State graduation rate jumps to almost 90%
Change over 6-year period nears national goal, but minorities lag

Wisconsin graduated more high school students in 2008 than it did in 2002 and is just shy of an impressive 90% statewide graduation rate, according to a new national education report released this week.
What are the 2009 numbers? Seems this comes out at a time when state and local government will have to make tough decisions in education in Wisconsin.
No, no, we can't cut back on teachers, we're making progress! If you cut bacl on teacher payrole and benefits, the numbers for 2009 will go down.
We will fall behind education nation wide. The sky will fall. Save the children. Cut back on band, sports and buses before you cut back on teachers!
Why are minorities still lagging behind other students? When will you hear, "we need to spend more money!"
