MARTIN BACK IN NO. 8 U.S. ARMY CAR AT MICHIGAN

After a taking a week off from Sprint Cup racing, Mark Martin will step back into the No. 8 U.S. Army/DEI Chevrolet this weekend when he makes his 46th career Cup start at Michigan International Speedway. Martin, who had a dominant car and led a race-high 55 laps two weeks ago at Pocono, will be looking for his fifth Cup win at the 2-mile track.

Top 10's: 27 (14)

Poles: 1 (1)

Worthy Note: Martin has four wins at Michigan in the Cup car, two more in the Nationwide Series and one in the IROC Series.

MARTIN AT MICHIGAN

This will be Martin's 46th run at MIS, where he boasts four wins, 16 top fives, 27 top 10s and a pole. Martin has finished inside the top 10 in seven of his last 14 races at Michigan. He has four wins at MIS, where he first won on Aug. 19, 1990. Martin has won three more times at MIS, with the last trip to Victory Lane coming on June 14, 1998. Martin ran out of fuel late at Michigan in June, being forced to settle for a 25th-place finish in what looked to be a sure top-five run.

DRY SPELL AT MICHIGAN

In additon to his 25th-place finish there in June, Martin finished 29th and 42nd at Michigan in 2007. The 42nd-place finish - due to engine issues - was Martin's worst in 44 starts at the 2-mile track. In addition, last year's 34.5 average finish at Michigan in 2007 is Martin's worst ever in 25 years of racing at MIS. Last season was only the second time since 1988 that Martin has failed to post a top-10 finish at MIS. Martin has now finished 25th or worse in his last three races at Michigan and in four of the last five; his worst streak there since 1983.

THE WINNER

Martin has taken seven trips to victory lane at MIS. In addition to his four wins in the Sprint Cup Series, he boasts two Nationwide wins and a win in the International Race of Champions Series. Also, three of Martin's four wins at Michigan came in the fall race.

DOUBLE DUTY

In addition to Sunday's Sprint Cup race, Martin will race in Saturday's Nationwide race, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. It will be Martin's 11th Nationwide race at Michigan, where he has seven top-fives, eight top-10s and two wins.

QUOTING MARK:

"Michigan is one of my favorite tracks on the circuit. It's big and wide and you can really pass there. If you are able to get your car set up right, you can do a lot of passing and have a whole lot of fun there. We were pretty good there in the spring race, but came up short on the fuel mileage at the end. It cost us a certain top-five finish. We should be able to take what we learned back there and have another strong run. Hopefully this time we won't get burned on the fuel mileage.

"We had a great car at Pocono and a rocket ship at Indy, so this team is really building momentum. We are getting really close to winning a race, and these guys on this No. 8 U.S. Army Team really deserve it. They have worked so hard and they give me great cars to drive each weekend. They are the best on pit road and if we can keep coming to the track with these types of race cars, I think we will have a good chance at winning one or two of these races.

FAST FACTS

· Martin's 27 top-10 finishes at Michigan are the most of any driver.

· Martin's 16 top-five finishes at Michigan are the most of any active driver.

· Martin has four wins at Michigan in the Cup car, the third most of any active driver.

· Martin has led 22 races at Michigan for a total of 851 laps.

· Martin has finished in the top 10 in seven of his last 15 races at Michigan.

· Martin has finished in the top five in four of his last eight Cup starts at MIS.

· Martin boasts two Nationwide and an IROC win at Michigan.

· The No. 8 DEI Team is currently 15th in the Sprint Cup Owner points.

LAST YEAR AT MICHIGAN...

August 21, 2007 – Michigan International Speedway

Started 10th, Finished 42nd

One of the longest NASCAR weekends in series history culminated in a frustrating ending for Mark Martin and the No. 01 U.S. Army Race Team. Running in 16th position just prior to the half-way point, Martin’s U.S. Army Chevrolet began to smoke heavily, bringing out the third caution of the race.

Martin and the team were forced to take the car behind the wall, eventually repairing a broken rear seal in the engine. The repairs were extensive and took several laps, before Martin was able to go back out for a handful of laps, before finally losing the engine on lap 170.

In a race that was delayed two full days for rainfall, Martin started 10th based on Friday’s qualifying effort. With the race conditions much different than they were for the final practice on Saturday, Martin started the race ‘tight’. The team made adjustments to loosen the cars handling on lap 31.

With the car too loose in the corners, Martin fell back as far as 17th, before the car’s handling started to come around. He moved back to 15th by lap 73, before having to go behind the wall on lap 88 to attempt repairs.

Another player had surgery and hope all will be well with him.

No details but we ask our Lord to take his soul to heaven.

God Bless his soul.

If you don't mind, a extra prayer would be helpful for everyone involved.

Interesting Position

By Daily Mail Reporter" Georgia 'overrun' by Russian troops as full-scale ground invasion begins | Mail Online

What stance do the candidates from the 8th district have on the current crises in Georgia?

Back our Allies?

Does polling, shows no own cares?

Say nothing and it's no big deal.

Stay out of the conflict? Bush already got us into Iraq and Afghanistan, never mind most people forgot 9 / 11.

Say nothing? What you don't say will not hurt you. Kagen's everyday M O..

Dribble, double speak which means nothing! Kagen is an expert when his staff doesn't coach him first.

Anyone want to take a stance?

When and if oil and gasoline prices jump to 160.00 a barrel and $4.49 a gal for gasoline, someone will have to take a stand.

But we cannot drill our own oil! No to ANWR and no to off shore drilling along with new technology.

Interesting position to take.

Carol Paul Serious Condition

From Breitbart News.

"Ron Paul's wife in serious condition at hospital
Aug 11 08:22 PM US/Eastern" Ron Paul's wife in serious condition at hospital

HOUSTON (AP) - The wife of Republican Rep. Ron Paul was in serious but stable condition Monday at a Houston hospital, a spokesman for the congressman said.

Carol Paul was in the critical care unit at an unidentified hospital, spokesman Jesse Benton said in a statement.

Benton would not disclose why Carol Paul was admitted to the hospital Monday, only saying "she has had several abdominal surgeries."

I do not follow Ron Paul because I do not agree with a lot of his positions but hope what ever might be at odds with his wife, we pray to God she will be O K.

Kagen Watch

The Kagen watch is now on to when Congressman Kagen will debate John Gard on energy.

From Gard for Congress
"Gard Asks Kagen to Hold Joint Town Halls on Gas Prices while Congress is on Five-Week Summer Break
(GREEN BAY) – With Congress poised to begin a five-week break, John Gard is asking incumbent Congressman Steve Kagen to use some of that time off to hold a weekly town hall meeting on the top issue in the 2008 campaign – gas prices.

Gard has made his plan to expand American energy production, and his disagreements with Kagen’s repeated votes to ban oil drilling, the centerpiece of his campaign.

In a letter faxed to Kagen yesterday, Gard says he hopes Kagen “will agree...that this [Congressional] break is a good opportunity to start a positive dialogue about the honest differences you and I have on issues.” " Gard for Congress - Gard Asks Kagen to Hold Joint Town Halls on Gas Prices while Congress is on Five-Week Summer Break

New Kagen Policy

New Steve Kagen Policy- Wisconsin Citizens / Voters Are Second Class Citizens
""Is there a limit as to how a nation can defend itself from unprovoked attacks?" Kagen said. "How many missiles would the U.S. tolerate from Cuba to South Florida?"" Breaking News - JTA, Jewish & Israel News

Above Mr. Kagen discusses the important part of protecting Israel from the bombings in the Gaza Strip.

Steve Kagen below talks about his trip to Iraq.
"Kagen Returns From Mission To Iraq, Says Our Troops Deserve To Come Home, Too
Rep. Steve Kagen column: Iraq trip showed it’s time for troops to leave [Appleton Post-Crescent] »
Iraq trip showed it’s time for troops to leave" Kagen4Congress » Blog Archive » Iraq trip showed it’s time for troops to leave

Where was Steve Kagen on 9/11? Has he forgotten what happened to the United States on 9/11?

What can we believe from Steve Kagen? He wants to leave Iraq but say we should protect our own boarders, states, towns. The World Trade Center was no unprovoked attack?

Let me change Kagen's own words,

Is there a limit as to how a nation can defend itself from unprovoked attacks?" Kagen could say. How many commercial airline missiles hitting the World Trade Centers in New York would the U.S. tolerate? How much could we tolerate from New York to Pennsylvania ?

No, Steve Kagen would never say something to defend our country! He just defends other countries.

How can he be so concerned for Israel and has forgotten the people of the United States and the 8th district of Wisconsin? How can he use Iraq for his election and talk about other countries of the world are more important then his own constituents? They should be protected! What about us?

Steve Kagen is more interested in other parts of the world and will treat the voters of the 8th district as a second class citizens.

Every day it is a different comment.

Everyday he says something different to everyone he meets!

Do the people of Wisconsin see the phony campaigning Steve Kagen is doing to you.

Steve Kagen has no beliefs!
Steve Kagen has no convictions!
Steve Kegan will tell and promise anything to get your vote!
Steve Kagen has no character!

How much can the people of the 8th district take from Steve Kagen.

Steve Kagen cares more about other countries and not the people of the 8th district.

Steve Kagen's comments would sure look good on a T V spot with the World Trade Centers and Steve telling you it's more important to protect others and not the voters of Wisconsin.

I guess no one would run something like that anyway.

Kagen stepped in a pile of crap and he hopes no one is listening or watching.

Kagen No Show, Not Backing Obama ?

From the Green Bay Press.

John Gard is not a delegate for the RNC so I will only comment on our congressman from the 8th district.
"Gard, Kagen don't plan to attend conventions" Gard, Kagen don't plan to attend conventions | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette
By ELLYN FERGUSON • Press-Gazette Washington bureau eferguson@greenbaypressgazette.com • August 10, 2008
Kagen, a superdelegate, will not attend the Democratic convention that starts Aug. 25 in Denver, spokesman Jake Rubin said Thursday.

I see here Steve Kagen will not attend the DNC convention in Denver. Please help me with the following questions, I have my opinion, you can give your own answers.

1) Is Steve Kagen loyal to the Democratic Party? yes

2) Who did Steve Kagen support for President in the Primary? Hillary

3) Is Steve Kagen a Super delegate for his party? yes.

4) Will Steve Kagen not go to Denver because he might change his super delegate vote to Hillary without telling anyone? yes / no / maybe / interesting question

5) Doesn't Obama want unity in the democratic party? yes

6) Is Steve Kagen mad, embarrassed, his candidate didn't win? (Hillary) maybe

7) Is Steve Kagen giving distance to the dem. nominee for his party because of the racial make up of his district? I am just asking. Is this a calculated move on Kagen's part to curry certain, specific voters in his district? Again, I'm just asking? The left has Kagen as a shoe in this November. It will be a cake walk they would say. Why not attend the convention?

If the people of Wisconsin are backing Barack, why the slap in the face to the Obama supporters. If Steve Kagen is 100% behind his choice for president, why will he not be at the convention. What is he hiding? What is he afraid of? Does he not want to be front and center with the first black president of the United States?

Barack Obama supporters, are you being dissed? If you support Barack Obama and Steve Kagen will not attend the convention, he is saying the Obama vote is not important to his election. He must be thinking he again ( racial) does not want his specific (white) ( prejudice ) voters that could see him in a different light at the convention in Denver.

You libs can start crying fowl when ever you wish, go for it. You don't have to be born yesterday to know , no matter what, there is still bigotry in our world and in the state of Wisconsin. No one will admit it for the sake of being called the "R" word (r a c i s t). It is the democratic voters in this state of Wisconsin that may tell people they support Barack but when behind that curtain in November, will they, can they, who will they really vote for. It's still a secret ballet, who will ever know? Even you on the left knows this to be true.

I will not vote for Barack Obama because of his lack of experience, lack of knowledge, higher taxes, the list goes on and on. Skin color does not matter to me. J C Watts would get my vote if he was running. So don't anyone throw out the race card. Don't tell me I am also against a women candidate, Hillary was just as left as Barack, she would never get my vote. Condi Rice would get my vote. I am not liberal, I am a Conservative.

The point here is I am only asking Obama supporters to ask Steve Kagen why he will not make the trip to Denver? You are not getting the support you should get from the people of your party and the people who represent you in Washington, these same people that ask for your vote. Will the MSM ask Black Obama supporters in the 8th district what they think of Kagen not going to Denver. 2,5,11 and 26, get the cameras rolling and ask the O supporters their take on the Kagen no show.

A Steve Kagen aid may say, "Congressman Kagen will be in Wisconsin working hard for the people he has the honor of representing," What does that really mean, It's means he will play all voters on all issues and from all racial make up to curry votes this election. Yep, he is working hard for the people he represents, remember Steve Kagen and $4.00 gas.

Barack Obama supporters, This is your party and your nominee. What is Steve Kagen afraid of? What is his real reasons and why does he not go to Denver?

Call and ask him,

Bubble Burst

From the Washington Times.
"Commodities sell-off could last for months
Stevenson Jacobs, ASSOCIATED PRESS
Saturday, August 9, 2008 " Washington Times - Commodities sell-off could last for months
NEW YORK | The commodities boom that just weeks ago looked unstoppable may have burned itself out.

Sudden plunges in the price of everything from crude to copper and cotton suggest commodities soared too high, too fast — and analysts expect even steeper declines in the months ahead as the U.S. economic slowdown spreads overseas and saps demand for energy, construction supplies and consumer goods.

"Everybody is scrambling to get out of the ship before the guy next to them," said Nathan Golz, a commodities researcher at Wachovia Securities in St. Louis. "It's amazing how fast commodities have become the last place people want to have their money."

Just coincidentally, prices started dropping after President Bush lifted the oil drilling ban on Monday Jul 14 2008.

Gee, I wonder what would happen if we pass a vote on off shore drilling and ANWR? I guess that can't happen with the new Gang of 10.
