Michigan Was Dry On Sunday Morning

Something I didn't know about Michigan, I guess the law is changing.

LANSING (AP) — Sunday morning liquor sales in Michigan won’t begin until late December at the earliest.

A spokeswoman for the Michigan Liquor Control Commission said Tuesday the agency will be posting applications for the $160 license needed to sell alcohol on Sunday mornings and notifying local governments about the new law this week. Local governments will have until Dec. 15 to notify state officials if they opt to ban Sunday morning sales.

The new law will allow Sunday alcohol sales starting at 7 a.m. Previous law bans liquor sales from 2 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Lawmakers in November passed a bill that technically takes effect Dec. 1. But liquor control officials still are working to implement the new law.
