WDNR, 100 Deer Per Square Mile

From the Rhinelander Daily news via Inteltrends.
"Northwoods: Deer crossing road kills local man
Rhinelanders Daily News, 23 Jul
[Excerpt:] – WOODRUFF, Wis. – The Woodruff Police Department has released the name of a 23-year-old Rhinelander man killed Thursday after a deer went through the windshield of the vehicle he was riding in while traveling on Highway 47.
[Blogmaster comment: Deer are one of the major causes of road accidents in Wisconsin. According to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) some areas of the state can have 100 deer per square mile. Source.]"

Our prayers go out to the family, poor guy.

I really have to question the DNR when it says, "100 deer per square mile," Sure there's a deer farm west of Gillett, they must have 800 per sq. mile there, and that's a deer farm! Where in Wisconsin do they see a 100 per sq. mile? WOW! Show me the map!

Still Speculation With Mark Martin

From NASCAR.com
"INDIANAPOLIS -- The question hangs over Mark Martin like the white, puffy cumulus clouds hung over Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday. He's said it, he's reiterated it, he's become passionate about it, he's gotten angry over it, and still people wonder -- what will Mark Martin do next season?
Autostock

I made myself perfectly clear last weekend, or over the last several weeks. There is no inclination of any change. But I will tell you this -- there is no road map for me and my future. So don't even start to think about criticizing what I do in 2012 or beyond, because I don't know.

-- MARK MARTIN

The 51-year-old NASCAR veteran is signed to drive the No. 5 car for Hendrick Motorsports through the end of next year, but the more time that passes without some resolution on what the organization will do with Kasey Kahne, the more Martin hears the questions. Hendrick signed Kahne to take control of the No. 5 beginning in 2012, and because of NASCAR's four-car maximum, won't be able to accommodate the young star until then -- unless there's some movement in the team's driver lineup beforehand.

Which is exactly what Ray Evernham thinks might happen. The former Hendrick crew chief, who won three championships with Jeff Gordon before leaving to start his own race team, surmised Friday that at some point Martin will step aside for the greater good of the organization, opening a seat for Kahne for next year." NASCAR.COM - Speculation over 2011 plans raises Martin's ire - Jul 23, 2010

Let's clarify, the old man is my driver.

Always has been, always will be. But I just don't see the passion in Mark since Hendricks announced Kahne going to the # 5 car in 2012. I just know Mark is a good honest, you "nice guy" anything can happen , don't hold your breathe

Mark, let's win Indy!

Steve Kagen's Good Friend Up On Charges

From MSNBC via Drudge.
"A House investigative committee on Thursday charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel with multiple ethics violations, a blow to the former Ways and Means chairman and an election-year headache for Democrats.

The committee did not immediately specify the charges against the Democrat, but sources who could not discuss the allegations publicly said they include Rangel's misuse of official stationery, his use of rent-subsidized New York apartments and failure to publicly disclose financial information as required."

My Vote Is For Walker

From the Green Bay Press. This put me over the top.
"Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Neumann proposes monthly property-tax payments
Plan would save taxpayers $11B, start in '12, he says
Press-Gazette and The Associated Press • July 22, 2010

MADISON — Republican gubernatorial hopeful Mark Neumann has proposed a plan that would allow property owners to pay their taxes monthly in 2012.

Neumann was in Allouez on Wednesday afternoon to promote the plan as a way for taxpayers to save money and boost the economy. If every resident opts into the plan, it could save taxpayers $11 billion or $4,500 for the average homeowner, according to the campaign's calculations.

Right now, property taxes generally are due in a lump sum at the beginning of each year. Many lenders require homeowners to pay an amount on top of their mortgage each month to cover their taxes.

Neumann's plan would suspend property tax payments in 2011 for those who agree to send their property tax payment each month starting in 2012."
Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Neumann proposes monthly property-tax payments | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press Gazette
1) Plan would save taxpayers $11B, start
in '12, he says

Sure, he says.

How does paying my property taxes monthly save me money?

If I owe $1200 on my property taxes, how does sending in $100 to the
state on a monthly basis benefit me? Where does he come up with a $4500
savings?
The reality, it's a good sound bite for T V and radio but just can't work. Think of all the unknowns. Bank charges, loss of tax write offs, where will the state find money for the one year no taxes will be collected? This sounds like the stimulus bill was supposed to create jobs. Funny looks like jobless claims up again today.

2) Mark Neumann never said he is against ethanol mandates.

3) If elected Neumann will force green technology to benefit his green construction business. If green technology is so great, let it sell itself, we do not need guv propping it up.

4) If Scott Walker runs a Milwaukee County budget surplus, how can Neumann say he runs more deficits then Jim Doyle and the State of Wisconsin?

I do not do endorsements but I will tell you my vote is for Scott Walker for Wisconsin Governor in November.

Wis. Lt Guv Race Down To Two

Charlie Sykes over at 620 WTMJ had Brett Davis on yesterday to have him explain his voting record yesterday. Davis is the republican self anointed candidate the republican party is backing for the Lieutenant Governors race.

1) He voted with the dems on Diamond Jim Doyles 2007 budget.

2) He voted for ethanol mandates.

3) He voted for the 200 million dollar raid on the Patients Compensation Fund.

He admitted that he voted for it and is now against it. Say what? Is he kidding.

If Davis wants me to vote for him, then John F Kerry should now be in his second term as president. You know the John F Kerry who voted for before he voted against it.

Now I hear Tom Barrett who is running for guv will cut taxes. He's raised taxes and fee's in Milwaukee but now has seen the light. Davis is telling me to now vote for Barrett?

Sure Barrett guv and Davis Lt guv. Sure, sure.

Guess I can check Brett Davis off my list for Lt Guv.

My choices are now down to Dave Ross and Rebecca Kleefisch.

McCormick Directs Third Party Group?

You can see how ugly politics gets when you have a unnamed gutless hack trying to destroy people.

Here they go after Todd over at the Party Of Know.

"An unnamed author at the Republican Liberty Caucus of Wisconsin posted a sloppy hit piece on me a couple of days ago. It starts...

"There is a group of “conservative bloggers” who really don’t like Terri McCormick. Everytime she says anything, they work together to jump all over her with attacks.

But the group of “conservative bloggers” do not have the best interests of the 8th Congressional district at heart."

The worst of the bunch is Todd Lohenry, who has attacked Terri McCormick’s website for not getting enough traffic and then went on to question her credentials when they are spelled out at the same website he criticized. Maybe Lohenry needs a reading lesson.

Residency Rule, Not Another One

I received this e mail.

For Immediate Release

Contact: Dane County Young Republicans, (608) 313-4704

(Madison, WI) – Despite the dismissal today of a challenge to Tammy Baldwin’s nomination papers, significant questions still remain about Tammy Baldwin’s residency in the Second Congressional District. “Baldwin is playing by her own set of rules,” said Charla Halverson, President of the Dane County Young Republicans. “Her unwillingness to provide any proof that she actually has a residence in the District shows a complete and utter disregard for the voters she supposedly represents.”

Baldwin’s campaign responded to this challenge with a brief attempting to explain away her inability to prove that she even lives in the state of Wisconsin.

“The fact that Tammy Baldwin’s office has received threats is not something new – with this charged political environment, it seems as though virtually every candidate has been faced with extremist rhetoric,” added Halverson. “What is different is that while other campaigns are transparent about following the regulations and listing their candidate’s home address, Tammy Baldwin has repeatedly shown her contempt for the rules. If she truly cares about representing her constituents in Wisconsin, she should be willing to show that she lives in the district and isn’t relying on her liberal allies to cover the fact that she has a luxurious condominium in Washington, DC where she spends her time.”

Bizarrely, her campaign continued by arguing that the fact that she doesn’t live in the Second Congressional District shouldn’t disqualify her from a seat in Congress. In the response, her campaign stated “that there is no Constitutional requirement that a citizen reside in the district to be placed upon the ballot.” Halverson responded, noting that “I’m glad that her campaign is confirming what we as voters in Wisconsin already know – Tammy doesn’t represent us, and incredibly, she doesn’t feel the need to even live among the working families that pay for her budget-busting tax-and-spend philosophy.”

Halverson stated that “the Dane County Young Republicans believe that Baldwin’s questionable residence in this state raises serious questions about her qualifications for Congress under Article 1, Section 2 of the United States Constitution and that this matter should not be laid to rest without a full investigation. The time has gone when a politician could say one thing in Wisconsin and go to Washington and vote for the same failed liberal policies. We need a Representative who actually lives among the voters that they say they represent.”

NOTE: Article 1, Section 2 of the United States Constitution states that “No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.”

I don't understand why this even comes up? Politicians and candidates not living in the district they are representing or running for.

Yes I know I get the old line, "you know the constitution says you don't have to live in the district you are representing or running for" CRAP! Yea, I just hate when someone tries to deceive you. Those are things I don't forget.

It just tells me, it the same old same old with politicians. Tells about their character and why I don't vote for the good old boy network people.

Why can't Baldwin just prove she lives in the district. Come on! It's time for Baldwin to find new work come next January.

WDNR, Counting Deer Poop Must Of Not Worked

WDNR is changing the way it counts deer. Counting deer droppings must not of been a reliable way to count deer.

"Operation Deer Watch’ kicks off August 1
Online reporting system will help track state’s deer population

MADISON – Beginning August 1, Wisconsin citizens will have a new opportunity to be part of managing white-tailed deer in Wisconsin. Dubbed Operation Deer Watch, people are being asked to record and report all deer they see between Aug 1 and Sept 30. Go to the Department of Natural Resources website [dnr.wi.gov] and click on the Operation Deer Watch button to get started.

“All deer seen including bucks, does and fawns should be reported during this two month period,” said Jason Fleener, assistant DNR deer specialist. “The observations will be entered into a database and will be used to determine doe to fawn ratios, which are a part of the population estimation equation.”

Summer deer observations have always been part of the population estimation process, according to DNR biologists. The number of deer seen and the number of fawns seen with each doe are indicators of annual production in deer herds. In addition to deer seen, observers are asked to note date and location. Only deer seen between sunrise and sunset are to be counted.

In previous years, the observation period lasted three months and only state and federal biologists, foresters, law enforcement and other government staff participated."
Weekly News - July 20, 2010 - WDNR

So big brother couldn't count and now they ask average people of the state to count, observe and report.

I think if people would give information, it might give the DNR a better estimate on the deer herd. This might be a good thing to get better estimates. If only people would report to the web site.

Time will tell.

The Wrong Jimmy Johnson

Here I thought the Jimmy Johnson from NASCAR was going to do male enhancement commercials and be on Survivor.

"Former Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jimmy Johnson will be a contestant on the CBS reality show “Survivor: Nicaragua” this fall according to various reports..The series is being taped in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua..Jimmy J is 67 so I don’t think he’ll fare too well..The older you are on the show, the quicker you get voted off..I think you can bring one luxury item with you..so I’m betting Jimmy brings his hair spray..you gotta look good in the jungle..Good luck with that..-TO"

I was going to say they would have life size cut outs of Jimmy at Lowe's by the plumbers drain snake section , the plumbers putty section and the drill bit shelf selling male enhancement products and giving a plug for Survivor.

Sorry # 48 Jimmy Johnson, I had the wrong one.

As far as the other Johnson, has he now lost his mind?

It must be something with the name Johnson.

Hummmm, a good read from Jo at Fox Politics
"McCormick Nevada connection

Will Wis. Republicans Fall Into The Trap

A win for Wisconsin physicians. Now how about the raid of the transportation fund? That's for another day.

From the JSOnline.

"Court strikes down raid on malpractice fund
Returning $200 million to malpractice fund will add to state budget crunch
By Jason Stein and Patrick Marley of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: July 20, 2010 |(124) Comments

Madison — The state Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down lawmakers' 2007 raid of a medical malpractice fund, delivering a victory to Wisconsin physicians, a defeat to Gov. Jim Doyle and the Legislature, and a bruising blow of more than $200 million to the state budget.

The ruling left open the crucial question of when lawmakers and Doyle will have to patch together a repayment plan out of the state's already shaky finances - opening the door to new possible spending cuts, tax increases or borrowing. A top aide to Doyle and the head of the state Senate said a special session for lawmakers ahead of November's elections is unlikely."
Court strikes down raid on malpractice fund - JSOnline
I'm wondering if this might happen. Will Diamond Jim Doyle call a special session in Madison and let the republicans fall into the trap?

Doyle and the democrats will say that the only way to pay this off is to raise taxes on the people of Wisconsin. I can see the democrat press spin the nightly and morning news on how there is no other option but to raise taxes. The dem press will talk to old people eating dog food. A single mom of three with no money who wants a free cell phone. And on and on.

Some republicans will be snookered into going along with tax increases and will then pay the price. Can you see the press, those evil republicans raised your taxes, its their fault and we need to elect more democrats.

Will republicans in Wisconsin grow some gonads or roll over for the left?

I had to grabble to ask my children to get me a last minute birthday gift. Don't worry, it was a week ago. I don't normally ask our children for any birthday, anniversary or Christmas gifts. Just to see them once in a while is the best gift a father can have.

Terri McCormick Playing Poker

From Jo over at Fox Politics.

"Vegas’ McCormick pulls in $53,000 from Nevada

What’s with this? The Terri McCormick for Congress campaign (the 8th CD) posted total contributions for the 2nd quarter of 2010 of $111,001, significantly improving on earlier donations totaling only $24,425. Over $98,000 of those Q2 contributions (88.4%) were from out-of-state contributors –

* 4 from apparently one family in California
* 1 from Florida
* 2 from a couple in Idaho
* 1 from McCormick’s Treasurer in Minnesota
* 2 from a couple in New Mexico
* 23 contributions from Nevada
* 4 from New York
* 2 from Ohio
* 4 from 2 families in Texas
* And 1 contribution from the great state of Utah"
FoxPolitics.net - Appleton, WI News - What's really going on in the Fox Cities

So what is Terri McCormick doing playing poker with the voters of the 8th district. To her supporters, is she showing her poker face when she talks to you? Does she have her poker face on when she talks the the voters of the 8th?

First she tries to put the word out that a vet. is a turn coat (from my post this past Sunday) and now she is collecting campaign money from mostly out of state contributors?
Those 23 contributions from Nevada, totaling $53,764, anted up almost 50% of the total raised for the quarter and 40% of the total McCormick has raised for the entire campaign ($135,426). It’s weird. All except one of the Nevada contributions (as essentially all other out-of-state contributions listed in the report) were the max $2,400; most – 14 – listed their employer as “self.” One of those self-employed donors listed his occupation as “professional poker player." An interesting group…. Five of the 23 list their home address as Henderson, Nevada – a gambling mecca of its own. One lists North Las Vegas and the rest of these big rollers (17) list their home base as Las Vegas.

Jerry Bader was on WTAQ and talked about one of the Vegas contributors. Someone by the name of Tony Dane who did web work for Terri, contributed to the campaign and who is also involved with Terri's endorsement from People V. US.
The Vegas connection? It’s People V. US,

an organization set up by Attorneys, Political Consultants, and Marketing professionals. We have seen from the inside the destructive goals of those who lead this country. We are ready to put our jobs on the line, to defend our Country through court proceedings. The Constitution of the United States is our authority, and we will work diligently to remove from office ANYONE regardless of party that attempts any legislation in violation of the Constitution.

This is starting to get pathetic. As Jerry Bader on his show mentioned, I will paraphrase, as far as issues in the campaign go, all four candidates for the 8th are qualified for the position. As far as trust, honesty and character, vindictiveness, and anger, I agree with Jerry, Terri is not the candidate for the people of the 8th congressional seat.

As in the movie and song "The Gambler", You have to know when to hold em and when to fold em.

Terri is holding a losing hand and should fold her hand. If she stays in what else will come out?

Will she do the right thing and step out of the race? Am I the only one saying it? If she is at the debate tonight, will the media ask her about the Vegas money? About the Vegas connection? About the "put the word out?"

As Jerry Bader also said today, there are only three candidates left in the republican race for the Wisconsin 8th district.

Terri, fold your hand.

Liberal Democrats Are Bored

Seems liberal democrats must have nothing to do.

Is It Time For A Country Tea Party??????

Dad 29 whetted my appetite this past weekend and on  Rush's show today he read and explained the American Spectator piece from

Angelo M. Codevilla,
"America's Ruling Class -- And the Perils of Revolution"

If you believe in this great country of ours, I first ask that you go to this link and read it in it's entirety.

You will then understand the meaning of the "Ruling" and the "Country" class in this country.

What does this have to do with a tea party? I for one think it might be time for a "Country Tea Party" What is a "Country Tea Party?

I want a tea party where it is just you and I!

I want no bands!
No speakers at a podium!
No podiums!
No speakers to hear someone talk.
No candidates!
No special guests!
No republicans or democrats!
No progressive's or moderates!
No tea party leaders! We have no leaders, the tea party is a movement.
No one handing out literature, campaign slogans or or bumper stickers.
No one selling t shirts or popcorn!

I just want you and I.

I just want you and I to meet and talk to each other on what we can do to take back our country. With our signs in hand, we will know what we want. We can talk and plan and we will learn what some are afraid to say or think. We will be Americans.

When? I don't know. Sometime in the future before it's too late.

What time? Who know's. If you work during the day we can meet at night. If you work at night we could meet during the day. As long as it's you and I, it will be fine.

Where? I don't know. Maybe the post office. Maybe at the city park. Maybe at the football or baseball team parking lot. As long as it is you and I, where does not matter.

Will it ever happen? It will if you read

"America's Ruling Class -- And the Perils of Revolution"

See you there.

Terri McCormick Should Do What Is Right

Has Terri McCormick contracted the John Kerry Sydrome

Just like John F Kerry, the former presidential candidate who always reminds us he fought in Vietnam, Terri McCormick has to remind us she was shafted in the 2006 election by rabid conservatives. The rabid conservative is a comment to me from one of her supporters Stephen Kastner from the Door County Style Magazine.

How many times does she have to bring it up?

From an interview with All Right Magazine dated July 16th. I copied this from Party of Know.
"are mad at me because I dared to challenge the most unpopular Republican in the state in a 2006 primary for Congress."
She also as Try 2 Focus mentions just can't let go of the 06 election as
it’s mentioned in her book, What Sex is a Republican.
Rhymes With Clown makes the following comment.
My advice to McCormick is to forget 2006, but it sure seems to come up over and over again.
Why doesn't she just run T V and Radio spots,

Hi I'm Terri McCormick and the republicans shafted me in the 2006 election and this election is mine! The hell with you other candidates and you voters in the 8th!

She now has to call out conservative bloggers.

From the Party of Know.
"ALL RIGHT MAGAZINE: The word on the street is that some conservative bloggers have been unhappy with your candidacy. As far as you can tell, what’s their problem with the campaign, and how do you respond? TERRI McCORMICK: There are a few bloggers – I’m not sure I would call them conservative – who are mad at me because I dared to challenge the most unpopular Republican in the state in a 2006 primary for Congress. George W. Bush came to Wisconsin and the Republicans spent $2 million in the primary. I moved on, but they have not. It’s a different election cycle but they are still holding a grudge. I have been endorsed by the Republican Liberty Caucus of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Right to Life, former RNC Committeeman Terry Kohler, and Wisconsin Conservative Digest publisher Bob Dohnal. A broad coalition of people have coalesced behind me. I’m so honored to have the support of the independent-minded and constitutionally-focused voters in the district and the state."
THE Party of KNOW - Random observations from a team of political cynics
"Not sure I would call them conservative", I take exception to that comment. I am not a sheep following republican who the party tells me who to vote for. I will not vote for any candidate that will harm, and destroy this great country like is what is going on today. Democrats and republicans got us into the mess we have today because our elected politicians promise us change and reform when they run for office and forget their roots when they get to Washington. This is not the time to discuss, Steve Kagen, Russ Feingold or President Barack Obama.

As far as McCormicks endorsements, they are meaningless to me. Terri McCormick is a consultant. She is an author trying to sell her book. She will do anything to bequeath herself the 8th district congressional seat. You think I'm kidding?

Dale made a comment over at Party of Know's post on the All Right Magazine article interview with Terri McCoormick.
I saw for myself how Terri's rhetoric does not match her message. I have at least 15 e-mails in which Terri attacks her opponents, the Republican Party and just some plain conspiracy theories. She sees ghosts behind every corner.

"Here's a little sample of Terri. This was sent to her staff when I told her I was leaving the campaign:

“Aaron and Jon:

Please handle this email - Harold – I think you need to put the word out with the military that we have a person by the name of Dale McNamee that is not only a turn coat but he lives in Winnebego county and should get engaged in his own congressman’s race in that he has blown any reputation he has with us."
McCormick Claims Bloggers Hold 2006 Against Her - THE Party of KNOW

Need to put the the word out? Need to put the word out to the military? Need to put the word out that he is a turn coat ? What will anyone who served in our military to protect our country think of Terri McCormick now? What other shoe will drop with Terri McCormick.

I am just a conservative blogger in the Nicolet forest who will not endorse any candidate. I did blog supporting John Gard back in 08 for Kagen Watch in a non paid position on that blog. I did it to get the word out that Steve Kagen was not the right candidate for the people of the Wisconsin's 8th district.

Yes, I have been to several tea parties. Yes, I hate the direction this country is going the past year and a half. Yes, I am conservative first and a republican second. No, I will not hold my nose in the voting booth like I did in the November 08 presidential election in voting for John McCain.
And yes, when that time comes, I will tell any of my readers who I am voting for and why. My opinion may not go very far but I have learned that liberal democrats and RINO's have no place in leading our country.

I am mad as hell in the direction this counrty is going and will not take it anymore!

Because of Terri Mcormick's statements, I think she should do the right thing and step down as a candidate for the Wisconsin 8th Congressional seat.

How can I say that?

Because that is my God given, 1st Amendment right of free speech.

MADISON, Ill. -- The feud between Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski -- dormant since Atlanta in March -- erupted like an angry volcano at Gateway International Raceway.

In a drag race to the finish line, Edwards sent Keselowski hard into the outside wall on the way to winning Saturday night's Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 Nationwide Series race at the 1.25-mile track. As Edwards took the checkered flag two car lengths ahead of runner-up Reed Sorenson, Keselowski careened into the inside retaining wall and took a vicious shot from Shelby Howard's Chevrolet just short of the finish line."
