Biden / Kagen White House Bathroom 2009

From John at The City Square.

V P Joe Biden following in the footsteps of Wisconsin's Congressman Steve Kagen.
[V.P. Biden said] earlier this week on CNN that he and President George W. Bush once had an exchange in the Oval Office, where Bush said, "Well, Joe ... I'm a leader,” and Biden responded: “Mr. President, turn around and look behind you. No one is following.”
Remember the whopper Steve Kagen had!
"PREVIOUSLY, U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen (D-Wis) took pleasure in his similar claims to have had confrontational in a meeting with, coincidentally, Karl Rove, as discussed in "Adolescents in the (US) House.""

From Tim Ryan from January 2008.
"Kagen: Nothing to apologize for in White House visit
By Tim Ryan, Leader Reporter

U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen said Friday he is sorry the controversy surrounding his comments about a White House visit last year has created what he called a distraction, but said he has done nothing for which he feels the need to apologize.

“I haven’t acted in a way that requires an apology,” Kagen told a Leader reporter during a visit here Friday."Link.

Our Congressman from Wisconsin now has someone to talk to in the White House bathroom. The two should have some lively discussions.

Gee, I sure hope Biden comes to campaign for Kagen next year. It should be a hoot!

Left Double Standard

From Rich Lowry and the New York Post
"Obama has pocketed, in fact or in theory, all the presidential war powers defended by President George W. Bush, while expanding with relish the executive's role in the economy. "
THE TARP STATE - New York Post

Where is Russ and the left on all this executive power? Where is the outrage? Russ and the boys were screaming bloody murder with Bush and now they seem to be silent.

Holy Thursday

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom.” When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. Dam. We Made The List

From the Wall Street Journal and By LESLIE EATON
"At least 10 states are considering some kind of major increase in sales or income taxes: Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin. California and New York lawmakers already have agreed on multibillion-dollar tax increases that went into effect earlier this year."

Steve Kagen, The Job Slayer

"Me lady, I shall slay those evil companies right out of Wisconsin."

From the Green Bay Press about the Northeastern Wisconsin Global Trade Conference at held in Green Bay.

"Wisconsin's exports increased by 9.2 percent to $20.6 billion in 2008, according to the state Department of Commerce."
Area is a player in global trade | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette

Looks like many jobs in the kingdom to me.
The top trading partners were Canada ($6.4 billion), Mexico ($1.7 billion) and China ($1.2 billion).

Wisconsin seems to do well with thy neighbors.
MacDonald said exports account for $260 million of Appleton Paper's $1 billion in revenue.

$1 billion, evil paper companies! Our knight from the 8th comes to the rescue.
Kagen said the United States should renegotiate trade agreement with a goal of getting balanced trade with other countries.

Page, bring me my sword and I will kill those jobs in Wisconsin
Kagen said the United States should get other countries to adapt its values in regard to such things as labor laws and environmental protection, so all are playing by the same rules.

But me lord, besides the extra tariffs from Mexico will not Canada throw us extra taxes on the 6.4 billion dollars worth of parchment Appleton Papers ships to them? Need not worry me lady, if it's a trade war they ask, I shall cut off their head and give it to you.

What happens when more jobs are lost to the parchment industry in Wisconsin.

Sir Knight Steve Kagen will say anything and vote for anything to slay jobs in Wisconsin.

Cooler Heads

From Mr. Moore and The Lakeland-Times
4/7/2009 3:10:00 PM
Will cooler heads finally prevail in global warming debate?
Richard Moore
Investigative Reporter
"Just yesterday, Democrats unveiled a new proposal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 83 percent by 2050, a timetable even more aggressive than that proposed by President Obama.

Laudable, but is it realistic? Is it affordable? Healthy debate is needed, and it shouldn't be driven by Chicken Little nonsense. For one thing, at the heart of the scheme is a cap-and-trade policy that caps overall pollution but allows individual firms to buy and trade pollution credits - in others words, credits giving them the right to pollute.

But to buy the credits will cost trillions of dollars across the economy, and who is going to pay for that? We are, when the companies buying the credits pass the costs along to us.

What A Weekend

Had one heck of a weekend. I'll just give you a couple of short comments.

In the process of moving from Berry Lake. I will still remain in the 8th district. I just couldn't move out of Steve Kagen's district.

Made the move of heavy furniture in one truck and trailer.

Thank God for young men with strong backs. Son 1and 2 and favorite son in law.

What a pleasure having daughter 1. Penelope and Mrs Berry Laker keeping everything straight.

From 3300 sq ft to 600 sq ft, what a change.

Yea baby Dish HD is up and running.

Yea baby Michigan State wins.

Stayed overnight, slept like a baby even if most slept on the floor. It be GREAT to have one of these.

Sunday morning, got all the troops up for Palm Sunday.

Are there any traditional Catholic churches in the area?

Not up to speed on the modern mass of area Catholic churches. I am an old fashion Catholic. Are kneelers made to kneel or just sit there while you stand?

NASCAR Sunday, Martin takes seventh. yea baby, up to 18th in ranking.

Sunday night, back to Berry Lake.

I'll try to get pictures of the new bunker when I have time.

Don't forget to vote Tuesday.

A Great American

A thought for the day from a Great Blog and an even Greater man. I got to stop along the lake and have coffee with this great American last week. It was good to talk about the past and what the future holds. Here he reminds us what Zig Ziglar reminds all of us.

"“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” Zig Ziglar h/t Daily Cup of Joe…"

"Martin's progress forward in the standings is even more dramatic after horrendous circumstances in the season's first three races knocked him almost out of the critical top 35 in the owners' standings.

Martin, who was in 34th in the drivers' standings after three races and remained there after four; moved up three spots with a sixth-place finish at Bristol; four more spots after finishing seventh at Martinsville; and with his third consecutive top-10 , jumped nine spots to sit 17th heading into the Easter break.

Martin didn't talk about points, but he had plenty to say about crew chief Alan Gustafson and the performance of his Hendrick Motorsports crew.

"The [car] was really good [Sunday] -- I was worried after [Saturday's] practice that we may have a 20th-place car," Martin said. "But the guys, like every other Sunday, gave me a great race car. They worked really hard and Alan made all the right changes to get us in the top 10 [on Sunday]." NASCAR.COM - Biffle, Martin, Montoya gain momentum, ground at TMS - Apr 6, 2009
