Clinton: 'I'm in to Win' White House
Email this Story
Jan 20, 6:34 PM (ET)By BETH FOUHY

NEW YORK (AP) - Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton
launched a trailblazing campaign for the White House on Saturday,
a former first lady turned political powerhouse intent on becoming
the first female president.
"I'm in, and I'm in to win," she said.
In a videotaped message posted on her Web site, Clinton said she
was eager to start a dialogue with voters about challenges she hoped
to tackle as president - affordable health care, deficit reduction and
bringing the "right" end to the Iraq war.

"I am one of the millions of women who have waited all their lives
to see the first woman sworn in as president of the United States -
and now we have our best opportunity to see that dream fulfilled,"
said Ellen Malcolm, president of EMILY's list, which raises money
for Democratic women who run for office.

Dick Morris Appeal

For those that contribute ,
this might be a good bang for the buck.

From Townhall.com Robert Novak Link

Dick Morris's Appeal

Persons on Republican mailing lists this week received an appeal
for funds from Dick Morris, President Bill Clinton's political
strategist in 1995-1996, asking for a contribution between
$25 and $100 or more to finance a critical film documentary
of Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Signing the letter as "Former Clinton Adviser," Morris wrote:

"If you liked how the Swift Boat Veterans turned the tide against
John Kerry, you understand how a top Clinton aide can turn the
tables and stop a Clinton-style liberal from becoming the next
president of the United States."

Morris's appeal was made through The Presidential Coalition, run
by conservative activist Dave Bossie. The letter described Morris
as dedicated to electing presidents like Ronald Reagan and
George W. Bush. Since 1996, Morris has been an author,
columnist and television commentator.

Bet You Didn't Know

From a friend of mine .
Thanks Mike;
You young people , take this to your history teacher
and see if you get extra credit

Lost Historical Tid-Bits

Who was the 1st President? I'm sure that George Washington
was your first and best guess. After all, no one else comes to mind.
But think back to your history books . The United States declared its
independence in 1776, yet Washington did not take office until
April 30, 1789. So who was running the country during these initial
years of this young country? It was the first eight U.S. Presidents.
In fact, the first President of the United States was one John Hanson.
I can hear you now - John who? John Hanson, the first President
of the United States. Don't go checking the encyclopedia for this guy's
name - he is one of those great men that are lost to history. If you're
extremely lucky, you may actually find a brief mention of his name.
The new country was actually formed on March 1, 1781 with the
adoption of The Articles of Confederation. This document was actually
proposed on June 11, 1776, but not agreed>upon by Congress until
November 15, 1777. Maryland refused to sign this document until
Virginia and New York ceded their western lands (Maryland was afraid
that these states would gain too much power in the new government
from such large amounts of land). Once the signing took place in 1781,
a President was needed to run the>country. John Hanson was chosen
unanimously by Congress (which included George>Washington).
In fact, all the other potential candidates refused to run against him,
as he was a major player in the revolution and an extremely influential
member of Congress. As the first President, Hanson had quite the
shoes to fill. No one had ever been President and the role was poorly
defined. His actions in office would set precedent for all future Presidents.
He took office just as the Revolutionary War ended. Almost immediately,
the troops demanded to be paid. As would be expected after any long
war, there were no funds to meet the salaries. As a result, the
soldiers threatened to overthrow the new government and put
Washington on the throne as a monarch. All the members of Congress
ran for their lives, leaving Hanson as the only guy left running the
government. He somehow managed to calm the troops down and
hold the country together. If he had failed, the government would
have fallen almost immediately and everyone would have been
bowing to King Washington. Hanson, as President, ordered all foreign
troops off American soil, as well as the removal of all foreign flags. This
was quite the feat, considering the fact that so many European countries
had a stake in the United States since the days following Columbus.
Hanson established the Great Seal of the United States, which all
Presidents have since been required to use on all official documents.
President Hanson also established the first Treasury Department,
the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department.
Lastly, he declared that the fourth Thursday of every November was to be
Thanksgiving Day, which is still true today. The Articles of Confederation
only allowed a President to serve a oneyear term during any three year
period, so Hanson actually accomplished quite a bit in such little time.
Seven other presidents were elected after him...

Elias Boudinot (1782-83),
Thomas Mifflin (1783-84),
Richard Henry Lee>(1784-85),
John Hancock (1785-86),
Nathan Gorman (1786-87),
Arthur St. Clair (1787-88),
and Cyrus Griffin (1788-89)

all prior to Washington taking office. So what happened? Why don`t
we hear about the first eight presidents? It's quite simple -
The Articles of Confederation didn't work well. The individual states
had too much power and nothing could be agreed>upon. A new
doctrine needed to be written - something we know as the>Constitution.
And that leads us to the end of our story. George Washington was
definitely not the first President of the United States. He was the
first President of the United States under the Constitution we follow today.
And the first eight Presidents are forgotten in history.

Washington - For new members of Congress, it's normally
good to be noticed.
But doctor-turned-congressman Steve Kagen can't relish the
kind of publicity he's getting lately.
After apparently exaggerating his own swaggering behavior
at a White House reception in November, Kagen has taken an
unusual public relations hit, marked by a combative confrontation
with reporters in Green Bay on Sunday and an editorial scolding
in several Wisconsin newspapers.

I like this ,

Reporter: "Yes or no? Did you tell (Rove) you kicked his ass?"
Kagen: "I'll stick with my statement."
Reporter: "That you kicked his ass?"
Kagen: "Any other questions?"
And this one:
Reporter: "Yes or no? Did you say it?"
Kagen: "I've answered your question."
Reporter: "You didn't answer the question, yes or no, '
Yes, it's true,' or 'No, I didn't say it,' or, 'I was just kidding
around. . . . ' Why can't we get a yes or no?"

Gasoline

Just want to say I filled up my big S U V
yesterday in Wittenburg ,Wi. for $1.93 gal. Yes I wish
I was in other states where the gasoline taxes are not so high,
but right now I will take a 1.93 any day!

Now I am in sales and need to be on the road .
As far as Gas stations of choice go, Citgo, no , owned by
Hugo Chavez, B P and Kwik Trip, no because all of there
gasoline has 10% ethanol! Shell yes , Mobil yes, and any
others that do not carry ethanol!
Ethanol production is a rip off for the corn growers. Not that I am mad
for farmers making money but do we need government
subsidy's to inflate the cost of corn?
That's another story.

Yes I put in over 30 gals of great # 1 Shell gasoline .
While those people were sliding around in their light weight
cares on the icy roads , I had my large beautiful Ford Expedition
in 4 wheel drive . It's nice to see you libs and candy's in the little
cars sliding around or going 35 in a 65 zone!

You environmental wackos , suck my fumes!!!!!!!

Global Warming Lies and Money

Money , lies and sex! Oh sorry no sex, well maybe indirectly.
The sex must be the chick on the Weather Channel. The lies and
money is global warming .

A fine example of money with Global warming in the article is;

Billions of dollars of grant money is flowing into the pockets of
those on the man-made global warming bandwagon. No man-
made global warming, the money dries up. This is big money,
make no mistake about it. Always follow the money trail and
it tells a story.

And this one relates to Berry Lake ( where I reside) , back in
the 1930's the lake had 100 to 150 feet of shore on the lake ,
today we have 15 feet. Sandy , was it global warming when
you were a little girl on Berry Lake ? When they were planting
wheat on the around the lake , was that global warming?
The lie here is it's worst today than in the past!

It will always change, and the warming in the last 10 years
is not much difference than the warming we saw in the 1930s
and other decades.

Editorial:
Grow up, Congressman
From the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Jan. 16, 2007
Democrat Steve Kagen, the Appleton allergist elected in November to s

ucceed Mark Green in the 8th Congressional District, is again in political
hot water because of something he said. Or, to be more specific, something
he told some supporters he said during a reception at the White House.
But the fact is that it's not clear exactly what was said because Kagen
apparently was making much of it up. The behavior, odd beyond question,
calls into question both Kagen's judgment and maturity.
It started when Kagen met with a group of anti-Iraq war activists Dec. 19 in

Appleton. His comments were reported in the January issue of The Scene, a
monthly Fox Valley arts tabloid under the headline, "Kagen introduces a little
levity to the White House."
Among other things, Kagen told the group after talking about Iraq that he

confronted presidential adviser Karl Rove in a White House men's room,
blocked his exit and said, "My name's Dr. Multimillionaire, and I kicked
your ass." He was apparently referring to besting a GOP candidate for
whom members of the administration, including President Bush, had
personally campaigned.
He also related how he deliberately insulted Laura Bush by greeting

her as "Barbara" when Kagen and his wife later met the president and
the first lady.
Did that actually happen? Depends on what part you're referring to.
Kagen told reporters at a news conference Sunday in Green Bay - and

his communications director repeated it Tuesday - that Kagen did not
insult the first lady, that he and his wife were thrilled to meet the president
and his wife and "at no time was any disrespect shown on anyone's part."
OK, so why did he say it happened?
Asked by the Fox Valley newspaper and TV reporters if he confronted

Rove and told him he "kicked his ass" in the election, Kagen was evasive:
"I didn't block the door, but I did have a very playful experience in the
White House," Kagen said.
When reporters rightly pressed Kagen for a more definitive answer, he

appeared to become annoyed and said the media should focus on serious
matters such as the war in Iraq. When we asked about the Rove incident
Tuesday, Kagen's communications director declined to comment.
A deputy White House press secretary told the Appleton Post-Crescent
last week that Kagen's "version of events is not the way it happened at all."
Assuming Kagen wants to deal seriously with substantive matters, why

make up such a silly story? And why decline to say exactly what he told
Rove?
The congressman owes his constituents an explanation, but bottom

line: The incident raises sobering questions about Kagen. Especially
in light of other things he has said, namely his use of a racially insensitive
term for American Indians during the campaign.
"I'm not there for playful experiences at the White House," Kagen said

at Sunday's news conference. "I'm there to get a job done."

Time to start, Congressman.

Stinks of Tuna Fish

Why can a dem (Ms Polosi) get a pass?
How can the people in Samoa not work for the min wage?
Somoa is a part of the U S! Why didn't we hear more about this?

From the Washington Times,
Greg Pierce - Inside Politics

Media blackout "So what happened to the story about
Nancy Pelosi exempting American Samoa from the minimum
wage because it benefits companies in her district?" radio
talk-show host Neal Boortz asks at his blog site, boortz.com/nuze.
"Here we have a juicy little story affecting the Speaker of the
House, and the media has chosen to look the other way.

Imagine if this had been Newt Gingrich or Dennis Hastert.
Would the press be so kind? Nope ... but hey, this is a Democrat ...
the big cheese, the head honcho. She gets a pass. Maybe it's
because Dems plan to revise the bill to include American Samoa
and cover the speaker's behind," Mr. Boortz said."Never
mind the hypocrisy of it all. Democrats stand up there and
tell us that you can't raise a family on $5.15 an hour, that it
needs to be raised to $7.25. Evidently you can raise a family
on $7.25 an hour, even if it is phased in over two years. But
when it comes to American Samoa, that's different. And as
long as the Del Monte Corporation, through its Star Kist
subsidiary, is loading you up with campaign cash ... then well ...
maybe you can raise a family on $5.15 an hour. At least if you
live in American Samoa. "So the story will wither on the vine,
thanks to media bias. Can you imagine if Tom DeLay were doing
this? It would still be front-page news. But Nancy Pelosi is a
Democrat, and Democrats are protected by the media.
You should know that by now."

Mainstream Media doesn't do it again!!!!!

The New Republic recently published an article titled, “How

him breakthrough the image of the cookie-cutter polished politician …
Others, though, wonder if a candidate who smokes can win the

liberal vote. Will the part of America that holds its nose when it
walks into a smokey bar be willing to vote for a man addicted
to cancer sticks?

The kiss of death , a smoker. I will make a prediction, Barack
will take the pill or check himself in to stop smoking to make it
look like he quit for the 08 election! You know he will sneak a puff
in his room at night. But all will be for not, they will not elect a smoker!

Open Letter to ALL Members of the GOP
By J.B. Williams
Monday, January 15, 2007

The GOP is in bigger trouble than it is yet prepared to
recognize or address. The GOP has more members than
the DNC, which makes it all but impossible to explain how
leftist Democrats just took back control of congress via a pack
of lies. The only possible explanation is that members of the
GOP allowed it to happen.
I agree.
Today, most Democrats, especially current DNC leaders,
are anti-life, anti-sovereignty, anti-security, anti-morality,
pro-greater communal good which is anti-individual liberty,
anti-capitalism pigs who believe in neither the founding
principles of the Declaration or the laws of the written
Constitution they work to dismantle. They spend their
every political moment working to subvert all of it and
there is nothing American about it!
I agree!
No more pretenders in the GOP! Conservative is as
conservative does. Talk isn't just cheap. It's worthless!
Yes! And one of many reasons why there are few conservatives
in Washington right now,
And if he lacks the spine to confront his enemies, he is NOT
a conservative. He's not even a man!

Thank you J B Williams , what you say is true but how many
wiener republicans in Washington will listen. The 08 elections
will be the tipping point for this country. Will the idiots ever
realize what they have done!
