Kagen, Doyle Internet Shakedown

Looks like Congressman Steve Kagen , Gov Diamond Jim Doyle and the Obama administration are good at scamming, deception, flimflam , sting , shake down, what ever you want to call it on the tax payers of Wisconsin and this country.
From WBAY , my God, WBAY is questioning stimulus spending?

Nearly $23 million in federal stimulus money is making its way to Wisconsin to provide better, high-speed Internet access to schools, colleges, and libraries in all 72 counties.
23 mil for high speed internet?

But this isn't exactly how some local leaders expected stimulus dollars to be spent.

Come on, your pulling my leg, "isn't exactly", No really?

Some local, state, and federal officials praised the announcement Thursday. "By linking together all of our schools and universities, we are going to guarantee all the libraries don't have to sit still, they can come into your home. Access to information has never been more important in a global economy let alone it's an opportunity situation where jobs are getting hard to find," Congressman Steve Kagen (D-8th District) said.

How is giving money to schools and libraries going to give people in the rural areas high speed internet to the people at home? Hold the presses, Kagen admits jobs are hard to find? Where has he been?

However, it was about a year ago when officials in Brown County teamed up to present their wish list of "shovel ready" projects that could be funded by stimulus dollars. Internet upgrades weren't part of that proposal.

Sure I remember all the shovel ready projects, where did they go?

"I thought that there were things a little higher priority. But look, Congress makes those decisions and we need to react to that and that's what we're doing," Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt said.

Looks like the toady Mayor of Green Bay got hood winked. Sounds like the good mayor will just grin and bare it.

If this money was really going to help people in rural areas to get high speed internet why is the money going to all libraries and schools in the state? Why not give the money to the phone companies to up grade their lines to give more access to the people at home who do not have high speed internet? For God sake, I know one family in northern Wisconsin with dial up who is 37000 feet ( that's about 7 miles) from the nearest DSL line.

Are you telling me the list of libraries and schools below do not have high speed internet already? This is a payback to all the liberal librarians who aren't afraid to take the tax payers money of this country. This is a payback to the left wing teachers unions and school boards of the state. Aren't we already paying a tax on our phone bills to pay for internet to the libraries and schools in so called rural areas?

Lets be honest here. This is just a future ad spot for Kagen in the November election to show he helping rural area get high speed internet.

Go ahead, check the list below and tell me they do not already have high speed internet.

What a joke people! Wake up people.

Dish Network

I'm a little late with this but need to spread the word. Satellite TV was set up last Saturday.

To start out, for the past eight weeks we only had digital TV here at the compound. the only channels we were getting were D2- 1, D2-2, D2-3, D5-1 (sometimes), D11-1 and D14-1 out of Green Bay.

After watching the Super Bowl go in and out on channel D5-1, I said enough is enough. Called Dish mover and had a young man came all the way from Appleton to hook up Dish. Trying to get Dish HD was a pain. The tech expert walked around the compound for a half hour trying to get a strong signal. I had a couple of choices but a couple of mighty oak trees had to come down. Went over to the neighbors and asked if I could borrow his electric chain saw. I'm not good with a chainsaw. A side note, we have some great people living by us. Not full time residents like us but just GREAT people. We are truly blessed.

Back to the Dish. Regular channels, no HD, needed a south and a south east satellite to get what I wanted. "I can put it here but that tree has to go, I can put it here but those two trees have to go. I can give you regular dish but no HD, we can come back in spring after you drop some trees"

With the electric saw in hand the thought of a tree falling on me as I would try to cut a mighty oak down was running through my head. Would Mrs B see me get flattened? If I was still alive, how long would it take to get a ambulance up here? Would flight for life even be able to land here? I didn't even buy my plot at St Casimirs yet.

It looked bleek at the Berry Laker compound. This guy is good, low and behold, he gives me the option to put it on the roof and pick up a HD satellite from the southwest but regular TV channels from Green Bay will not be HD. CRAP! he did say it would be $5.00 cheaper on my bill. The Daytona 500 and the NASCAR season begins and I have to be without Dish?

"Sold, put is up" was all I could say.

He put the dish up, ran the wires and set up the two TV's. By 12:30 he was on his way to his next stop. Mrs B had the brats done and a case of bottles on ice to enjoy the Nationwide race. Too bad for Danica Patrick.

We have been loyal Dish customers for the past 11 or so years. Direct, cable, you guys can't even come close to Dish Network.

Thank you to Dish and to the young man that came to set it up.

Blog For Sale

From Troglopundit about the sale of the blog Hot Air.

TrogloPundit will still not be for sale.
At least, not for any price I’ve been offered so far.

Trog, glad your holding out to raise the price but sorry to break you the news, I don't have a problem selling my blog "Berry Laker". Why would anyone want to pass up a blog that gets an average of 37 hits per day. Here's what I'm thinking.

1) the extra money would get me faster Internet access.

2) it would give me more time to spend with my grandson.

3) it would give me money to go to my first "Drinking Right " in Milwaukee.

4) Congressman Steve Kagen, RINO's, liberals, phone companies and anyone else I pick on would not have to read about themselves from the Berry Laker blog.

5) the extra money would able me to purchase "MORE AMMO"

6) The lefties would have one less conservative blogger to worry about.

7) I then could be a political consultant and act like I know something about politics like the rest that try that gig and even get paid big money.

and last but not least,
8) I think a $100,000 is a fair price, but I would settle for $90,000

Prospective buyers can contact me at the e mail to the left of the home page.

Steve Kagen Invents Internet

Steve Kagen is coming to Green Bay to tell everyone he invented the internet. Oh that's right, ALGORE did that.

From the Green Bay Press
"Stimulus money could be coming to Green Bay to help improve broadband Internet access.

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced today that Deputy Secretary Dennis Hightower, Gov. Jim Doyle and Rep. Steve Kagen will hold a press conference Thursday to discuss the plan.

The Recovery Act initiative will “help bridge the technological divide, boost economic development, create jobs and improve education and health care” through the improvement of Internet access, according to the department.

No other details were provided.

Department Secretary Gary Locke will visit Pittsburgh, Pa., and Wheeling, W. Va., to make a similar announcement." Stimulus money could be coming Green Bay's way for Internet access improvement | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette

How will Steve Kagen create jobs from the internet? Let's see.

Hire union employees to move the mouse for K4 - 12th grade students?

Give libraries grants to show people how to look up porn on library computers?

Give a bonus to teachers for showing students how to "double click"?

Give each senior citizen over 80 a free laptop?

Give one of his constituents (me) DSL in the northern compound? Naw, I wouldn't take it.

Sounds like it will be a payback to the teachers and unions! Kagen is sure loose with our tax money. What will Congressman Kagen say to create jobs with the internet. We shall see.

Up Yours

This certainly shows what the union bosses think about the average tax payer.
From the New York Post.

And to hell with the public.

"I'm not running a popularity contest here," Mesley said. "If I'm the bad guy to the average citizen . . . and their taxes have go up to cover my raise, I'm very sorry about that, but I have to look out for myself and my membership."

Mesley added: "As the president of the local, I will not accept 'zeroes.' If that means . . . ticking off some taxpayers, then so be it." Read more:

Wow, at least he's honest about it.
At least some will be able to protect themselves.

White Tail Lesson Of The Day

While taking a 5 min break today, a white tail deer walked across the back yard and I noticed something I did not know before. And they told me the deer numbers are down. At least I seen one today, well maybe more then one.

Did you know that when it snows on a white tail that the snow does not melt from their forehead to their tale. The snow just sits there and doesn't melt. AMAZING!

Also the more I live here the more I notice deer, and other animals in the distance tree lines. God has certainly blessed me with all the things I see up here. It should be something this summer with black bear. I guess I need to get the camera fired up!

Sorry no picture as of today.

Answer, HOLY CRAP, DIAL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.
.

Going through testing of dial up service and am not a happy camper. So far, 5 min to download a 1:06 You Tube. I am using Mrs B's computer and hope when I bring my Dell to the compound it will be a little bit faster. I ask that all you say a prayer for my sanity during my time with dial up.

Also I want to say the gal at Centurylink who was helping me set up dial up on this computer was a first class # 1 ass when it came to people skills. She obviously doesn't like talking to people about her companies services. WHAT A JERK!!!!!!!!! If centurylink will have lay offs, she is the first that should go! If I find a faster service, I know what phone company will be dropped like a lead balloon.
