More than 60 people filled the seats and lined the back of the Ashland City Hall council chambers Tuesday evening as the council addressed the city’s 2011 budget. In the end, the council voted 6 to 5 in favor of adopting the proposed 2011 budget with no additional reductions or adjustments. The 2011 budget reflects a zero percent increase in the city’s mill rate.
Several residents approached the council and shared their thoughts regarding the budget process. Ashland resident Charles Ortman commended the council for a zero percent increase in the budget. He advocated that the city refrain from holding a public hearing on the budget and adopting it during the same council session in the future.
Good for the people of Ashland.
