Baby born in Wisconsin Rapids Kwik Trip parking lot

WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- Grant Peterson was supposed to be born at Riverview Hospital on Tuesday morning during his scheduled induced labor.
Instead, the third child of Rome residents Michelle and Bryan Peterson entered the world in the front seat of his parents' car under a parking lot light outside a Wisconsin Rapids convenience store.
"No, I never delivered a baby before, especially not my own," said Bryan, who received instruction in child delivery as part of his first-responder training.
Early Monday evening, while Bryan, a town of Rome police officer, was working, Michelle left the couple's two children, Anna, 4, and Mason, 19 months, at her parents' home. Despite some contractions, "(they) weren't that bad, so I didn't think I needed to get in right away," she said with a laugh Tuesday.
Relaying the news to Bryan's in-laws added to the excitement."It took about the whole ride from Kwik Trip to the hospital to let them know it was real, that it had actually happened," Bryan said.
