MERRILL -- Merrill Manufacturing Corp. and its maintenance employees reached an agreement Thursday, ending a strike that began in March.
"(Merrill Manufacturing is) keeping the replacement workers and they are leaving the experienced workers out in the streets," said local union president and company employee Norma Schroder, who also walked the picket line. The manufacturer had replaced workers during the nearly eight-month strike.
Those returning from the strike have now been placed on a recall list and won't return to their jobs until their positions become available, Schroder said.
Seems like the union took it on the chin. A recall list? Interesting.
