Holy Cow 12%
Controversy is brewing in Pulaski over a school tax hike. The district is considering raising property taxes by 12% to meet their budget. It comes after their state aid was cut by 2%. The superintendent also says lower property values and rising operating costs have them struggling. But the proposal is not sitting well with some.
Controversy, what controversy? So the state cut 2% and they want 12%. Where did the extra 10% come from? What is the extra 10% for? So property values are down and Mel wants the tax payers to pony up! Hey Mel, who's responsible for rising operating costs? Isn't Pulaski getting money from the stimulus? Geez I could of sworn they would get a couple bucks.

"Funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will go to school districts as follows (numbers represent total Title I, IDEA K-12 and IDEA preschool funding for each school district):"

$919,138 dollars. As Stanley, a good friend that lived off of South Chase Rd once said, "WOWZY"
"We can't afford to pay anymore...I'm going ask the school district...be reasonable in their request... a little while when things get better we'll be there to support them," says homeowner Gary Drzewiecki.
Gary, Gary, Gary, what don't you understand? Be reasonable?  Mel is saying, no discussion.
But superintendent, Mel Lightner, says, "We cannot afford drastic cuts to the education of our children." The school board is expected to vote on the hike next month. If it's approved the owner of a $200,000 house would pay $200 in school taxes. "

WOWZY, "cannot afford drastic cuts to the education of our children" Mel takes the page out of the left's playbook, threaten to cut childrens education. Can the school board vote their own tax hike? What about a vote by taxpayers? What about "No taxation without representation"? I'll have to look into this. Hey Mel, why not give up some of your salary?

How many parents and tax payers in the Pulaski school district know they are getting $919,138 dollars to begin with. And the school superintendent wants more. What's he going to do when the stimulus runs out.

Let's take a page from the people of the Town of Pittsfield. People there fought their battle on road spending  Higher taxes in Pulaski needs to stop right now! The school district needs to live with in it's means. Maybe it's time for a Pulaski Tea Party.

What's say you people of Pulaski Wisconsin?
