$12 Million for Transition to Obama Administration

Susan Davis reports on the presidential transition.

The effort under way to smooth the transition from a Bush administration to an Obama administration will cost $12 million and employ about 450 staffers, Obama-Biden transition team co-chair John Podesta told reporters today. " Washington Wire - WSJ.com : $12 Million for Transition to Obama Administration

Seeking to keep good on a campaign pledge, Podesta said

the Obama team will enforce strict ethics and gift rules on

who can help with the transition effort.

Podesta said they are the “strictest ethics rules ever applied” to a transition, which will ban federal lobbyists from donating to the transition fund, similar to the rules Obama used for his campaign.

As is customary, Congress has appropriated $5.2 million in transition funds, and the rest will come from small donors, he said. The maximum individual donation is $5,000 and all donors will be disclosed on a monthly basis.

I guess foreign donations should be O K.
