Woosencraft Motors

In today's Green Bay Press I see Angie Woosencraft passed away. I did not know Angie but it brought back some memories of my younger years that I thought I would pass onto the Berry Lake clan. God Bless her soul.
"Woosencraft, Angie

Angie Woosencraft, 98, Pulaski died peacefully Friday afternoon, March 5, 2010, at Woodhaven Manor in Pulaski, where she had been a resident since 1994. She was born May 15, 1911 in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Isadore and Annie (Heesacker) Charles. Angie graduated from Green Bay East High School and then worked as an operator for the Green Bay telephone company.

On April 30, 1934 she married Curly Woosencraft at SS. Peter & Paul Church in Green Bay. The couple moved to Pulaski in 1945, where they established the family business, Woosencraft Motors."

Woosencraft Chevrolet was a block from where I lived on Front Street in Pulaski. I thought I would pass on a couple stories to the family. The only memory of Curly was I think he had white hair and glasses and was a good honest businessmanein Pulaski that served many generations of people giving them great cars, great deals that kept bringing people back to his dealership. Some things you just don't see today.

I remember back in the early 60's my uncle Tony would put two brand new cars in his garage to keep the new Chevys concealed until Curly would put them on the show room floor. Uncle Tony was a GREAT guy and would let us take a peek at them before anyone else in town. Wow, to see the new Impala or other models was like a kid in a candy store.

Uncle Tony was also the wrecker driver that would be called to pick up cars in accidents. It was a sobering sight to see the wrecks behind Woosencraft. Uncle Tony would tell us who died, how it happened, broken glass and blood stains all over the vehicle.

My last memory is the story about Robert, my father. He was a mechanic at Woosencraft. The story goes, my dad had quite the potty mouth and temper. After losing a wrench or hiting his hand, I don't know, he started swearing and cussing up a storm. As his rant went on a priest from the catholic church was standing right behind him. No, my did did not see the Light and I don't think it ever turned him humble. You had to know my dad.

Thanks Angie and Curly for all you did for the people of Pulaski.

Taxpayers, Municipalities, State Could Run Surplus

Here the Green Bay Press writes about health care costs for health care. What is the solution to the problem?
"Rising cost of health benefits put squeeze on taxpayers, municipalities

Rising cost of health benefits put squeeze on taxpayers, municipalities | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette

Like many private companies, local governments struggle with the increasing costs of providing health benefits for employees. The Green Bay School District pays about $30 million a year, while Brown County taxpayers spend about $25 million annually for health benefits that cover county workers.

Village of Ashwaubenon employees, for example, have no deductibles, and many other local government health plans have deductibles in the $200 to $500 range.

Holy cow, 86%?
Wages and benefits make up 86 percent of the Green Bay School District's budget, said John Wilson, assistant to the superintendent for human resources.

This was a big sacrifice.
The Green Bay Teachers Association recognizes the strain increasing health-care costs puts on governments, said president David Harswick.

The district implemented a wellness program in 2009 that, in part, allows employees to exercise, learn about nutrition and have a health assessment in exchange for lower premiums.

You can talk about any school district, any municipality, they're all in the same boat, their running broke and the tax payers are always on the hook for the money. What is the solution?

OBAMACARE!

The dems are handing a gift to the tax payers and the unions are too stupid to see whats coming. If Obama care will let employers opt out of private health care for only an 8 % health care cost to the federal government, look at the savings.
Taxpayers, municipalities and the state could drop all employees to the government plan and save billions! We would get lower property taxes, pot holes filled, better roads and bridges and save again BILLIONS!

Wouldn't it be great to see your school district spending money on teaching our children, your township lowering your property taxes. Could you see the Green Bay Press writing about the Green Bay school district lowering the charges to tax payers.

Most, not all, unions, state and county workers are all for Obama care and are blind to what could happen if this blue elephant passes. You know the old saying, be careful what you wish for, you may not like what you get. Teachers, county and state workers having the same health care as the rest of us, my God, what a thought.

I am not for OBAMA CARE in any way but if the left in schools, local and state gov are for saving their rear end, they for sure better stop Obama care like the rest of us.

But go head unions keep backing Obama and the dems. It's your rear end.

15 people arrested at rally criticizing rising cost of education
By Sharif Durhams of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: March 4, 2010

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee officials said they had to use pepper spray Thursday to help break up a rally at the campus after some protesters became violent while trying to enter the building that contains the chancellor's office.

Sixteen people were detained and 15 were arrested during the afternoon rally, university spokesman Tom Luljak said. The rally coincided with rallies at colleges nationwide that criticized the rising cost of higher education.

This better not have been my three children at the protests! I now have three adults attending UWM. I give them more credit than these wackos!

Big News In Green Bay

This is bigger and better news for Green Bay then buying a Zippo roller coaster for 3 million dollars.
From the Green Bay Press
"Actor Harrison Ford had dinner Wednesday night in downtown Green Bay, where he dropped in unannounced at the Republic Chophouse, 218 N. Adams St."
Harrison Ford drops by Republic Chophouse | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette

Maybe Ford was in town to be a part of the renaming ceremony for the Roller coaster. My thought is Green Bay and Schmidt must be out of his mind to spend 3 mil on a roller coaster? Is Green Bay running a surplus on their budgets?

Will Kagen Listen To The Appleton P C ?

Looks like the Appleton PC is telling Congressman Steve Kagen what to do with Charlie Rangel's money. Come on, it's only $21,000! But no, Steve Kagen is an ethical person.
From the Appleton Post Crescent.

"Kagen said Wednesday he has no intention of returning the money. But, if only from a public relations standpoint, it makes more sense for him to get rid of it, rather than continue to have this be a point of attack."
Editorial: Money's not worth hassle for Kagen | postcrescent.com | Appleton Post-Crescent

Good try PC, save his REAR END with a pr ploy. But really, Kagen has to keep the money. He will need every dollar he has in the upcoming election. On second thought, he can retire and keep the money in his own pocket. There you go Steve, that's a GREAT idea, DROP OUT OF THE RACE and go take care of your patients.

Compound Update.

We finally completed the move to the northern compound. A little cleaning at the Pulaski bunker (apartment) and we are out of there. Here's my update to my four followers to my blog.
.
Concerning the blog.
Since for the time being we only have dial up it looks like I will no longer post You tubes or video. It takes too long to down load to even watch them so no videos. The customer service rep ( Joey) from CenturyLink told me the nearest DSL line is 37. 000 feet from the compound. That's seven miles away. My gov and congressman spends millions of dollars for libraries that already have high speed internet and people like me are left out in the cold. Nothing like crapping on the people that really need the help. Joey made no promises but I have to commend Centurylink for at least following up on my internet problems. Thank you Joey for the follow through, tell your boss you need a raise for your work.
.
To get some speed out of my computer I had to delete all documents, pictures, downloads and any programs I don't use on my PC. It's still slow but it's better then before. It was our choice to move here and we will just have to live with what we have. Satellite internet was just too expensive right now so unless we win the lottery were stuck with dial up. Since we are deep in the Nicolet that might not even work.
.

Been growing a beard for the last three weeks. I'm 53 going on 54 and never had one in my life. Interesting look. It was fun while it lasted but the shaver comes out next week.
.
It was early morning and seen three deer walk through the land behind the compound. This is truly God's country when it comes to wildlife. Deer, turkeys, blue jays, woodpeckers and even a wolf are truly a sight that made the move well worth it. Can't wait till spring and summer with black bear.
.
We are 90% completed on reinforcing the shelter. We now have the washer and dryer hooked up so I can now have cleaner fatigues.

As Dad 29 would say, "Buy More Ammo", I picked up some but need pick up at least a 1000 more rounds. Need cash and will look at buying over the internet.
.
All terrain armored utility vehicle , will have to wait till summer to purchase. Low on funds.
.
Currently out of work. Because of the move to northern Wisconsin , it was not feasible logistically to keep that job. I do want to thank my old boss (Sue) and all the people I worked with. It was a pleasure that I truly enjoyed. Have had a couple of leads and making the trek to Crivits to scout out employment there. Thought I had one but deal fell through. Thank God Mrs B is keeping us above water. Not worried because of my sales, supervision, management and work ethic, I will find something. Blogging doesn't pay money.
.
To all, have a GREAT week, remember,

Have a GREAT day.

Kagen Takes A Stand On Dirty Money

From the Green Bay Press about DIRTY MONEY Steve Kagen took from Charlie Rsngel.
""No amount of money will ever be able to affect my vote, for I only have the best interests of my patients and my constituents in mind," said Kagen, an allergist."
Steve Kagen gets heat over campaign donation | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette

Need to add this, Mr Kagen, everyone has a price. Yours must of been $21,000.

I would hope we see this story in the upcoming campaign.
At least 17 Democrats have returned Rangel's money, according to news reports.
By the way, I thought Kagen is no longer a practicing MD? He still has patients?
