"IRON MOUNTAIN - NewPage Corp. has apparently found a buyer for the Niagara paper mill.
Shannon Semmerling of NewPage media relations confirmed Thursday that NewPage and a buyer have already signed an asset purchase agreement.
"We anticipate a transaction in the first quarter of 2011," she said.
Semmerling declined to reveal the name of the buyer. She also could not comment on whether all or only part of the mill property will be part of the transaction.
However, the website of Missouri-based E.J. Spirtas Group, LLC has listed the mill property as its Niagara development project.
A spokesman for E.J. Spirtas Group said that he would not comment on the development project until he could make a joint announcement with NewPage, possibly next week.
According to the website, E.J. Spirtas Group is a firm that specializes in full scale property development, construction, demolition, consulting, and environmental remediation."
