Green Bay Fox Valley RTA

From the Green Bay Press.

Looks like Green Bay transit is running out of money for bus service in Green Bay and Brown County. Oh boy, talk of an RTA!
"Operating on an annual budget of $8 million, the bus system serves about 1.3 million riders a year on 13 routes, some of which extend into De Pere, Allouez and other neighboring communities.

The system receives about $2.6 million a year in federal funds allocated by the state.

Brad Sauer, president of the Green Bay Transit Alliance, a private advocacy group, said losing such a sizeable share of federal funds could equate to eliminating an entire day of bus service, or all nighttime service.

"It's going to make a dramatic impact," he said.

Sauer and others support creating a regional transit authority to spread out the cost of public transportation and possibly identifying new funding sources, such as taxes. However, state legislation intended to pave the way for regionalization has run into opposition.

Sauer said he hopes that more people will support a regional solution once they see the updated projections of federal revenue losses.

"It's scary," he said." Census could cost Green Bay Metro nearly $1M in funding | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press Gazette

First, lets see 1.3 mil riders divided by 365 = 3561 riders per day. 3561 divided 13 routes = 274 riders per day.

If the buses run 6:00 am to 9:00pm, that's 15 hours. 274 riders divided by 15 hours a day = 18 riders per hour. That's 6 riders every twenty minutes. Hummmmmmmmm.

So the buses are overflowing with riders and they're running out of money. They want your money.

So Brad wants a RTA (Regional Transit Authority) to spread out the costs. So if you live in Pulaski, Gillett, Denmark, Oconto Falls, Shawano, Clintonville, Colman, Pound, Crivits, Algoma, Francis Creek, Seymour, Freedom, Black Creek, Shiocton, Krakow, Sobieski, Luxemberg, Maribel, Yes I may have missed your town but an RTA won't. You don't use the buses but you will pay for it. Brad probably thinks since you live outside of Green Bay, your just a country bumpkin hick who won't even know he took your money.

The next step is a RTA from Green Bay to Appleton. Then an RTA from Green Bay to Fond du Lac, Then lets have light rail ( light rail is a cho cho on tracks) Green Bay to Appleton. Then we have to have light rail to Fond du Lac. Then a cho cho to Milwaukee. Then a cho cho to Madison. They will call it mass transit. All being paid by the tax payers.

You see what Bradly is trying to do. Groups like him want to do this step by step so you won't notice. He will work on this for the next thirty years to accomplish an RTA and what ever goes with it!

Brad said, "It's scary," really Brad.

This scares the crap out of me and should you. You need to elect your leaders who are against any talk of an RTA.

If the buses don't have the ridership. then do like we all have to do. Cut back the waste and live with in your means.
