From the Appleton Post Crescent.
Seems Congressman Steve Kagen is getting consumed by the 2010 election.
First, congratulations to the two Fox Valley students for winning the 6th and 8th Congressional art contests. I just have a few comments and questions. Why were the first and third place winners names not in the article? Does the paper have an agenda? Back to Dr. doom.
Isn't it ironic that Steve Kagen will hang a picture in his office in DC called "Consumed by Doom."
Unemployment at 9.7%, housing starts at 20 year lows, oil gushing in the gulf, George Bush is to blame for all our problems (that's what Mr. Kagen has said). I have not seen the painting but for Congressman Kagen to have had a picture selected called "Consumed by Doom," seems fitting.
German foreign exchange students stalking his house in Appleton and now his office in DC will look at doom for the rest of this year. Since being in office we all know Kagen has been consumed by George Bush. Remember the White House bathroom, the Barbara Bush comment and lately Bush was worse then the Germans and Japanese in World War II.
Poor Congressman Tom Petri can only hang a painting called "Reflections of the Season." Seems the name of the painting fits the political movement that seems to be consuming the conservative movement in Wisconsin. How ironic.
Democrat's - "Consumed by Doom."
Republicans - "Reflections of the Season"
On a side note. Why wasn't Ka Yang flown to Washington DC like Ben Erickson? Congressman Kagen couldn't reach into his pocket to fly her to Washington. Liberals like Kagen say they care but will only do something if they will only get a vote or campaign money for it. Liberals!
Is this an omen or what do some say, "karma", for his November election in the Wisconsin 8th District?
Like the painting, Congressman Steve Kagen is "Consumed by Doom" in more ways then a painting. I hope Congressman Kagen or his staff don't take the picture and put it in the janitors closet. I wouldn't put it past them.
Congrats to Ka and Ben.

"Appleton East High School and Neenah High School students honored in Congressional art contests
The Post-Crescent • June 15, 2010
APPLETON — Two Fox Cities teens have won congressional art awards.
Ka Yang, who just completed her freshman year at Appleton East High School, received the runner-up award in Rep. Steve Kagen's competition to select the 8th District entry for the 30th annual Congressional Art Contest in Washington, D.C.
Yang's oil painting, titled "Consumed by Doom," hung in Green Bay's Neville Museum last month and will now hang in Kagen's office in Washington, D.C., for a year.
Two De Pere High School students took first and third in the competition.
The three-person judging panel included Appleton Art Center executive director Tim Riley.
Earlier this spring, Neenah High School junior Ben Erickson received the Best of Show Award in Rep. Tom Petri's 6th District Art Competition: An Artistic Discovery at the Windover Center for the Arts in Fond du Lac.
His acrylic painting titled "Reflections of the Season" will be displayed in Washington, D.C., for one year. Ben also received two airline tickets and was invited to the Congressional Art Reception in Washington on Thursday."
