Russ, You Can Come Home Now

"Senator responds to ANWR drilling

June 20, 2008" Senator responds to ANWR drilling | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette

WASHINGTON, D.C. — I write in response to a letter that called for drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. We need to find ways to meet our nation's energy needs, but drilling in the Refuge isn't the answer.Drilling in the Refuge would only decrease gas prices by a penny when the Refuge is at its highest rate of production. The Department of Energy even released a report stating oil production in the Refuge "is not projected to have a large impact on world oil prices" and may save only 75 cents per barrel (currently, oil is topping $130 per barrel).

We need to move past this divisive debate and develop a strategy that protects our national security, economy and environment. We must encourage energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy like biofuels and solar power. With my support, Congress enacted an energy bill setting our country's energy policy on this path. It raises Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards for vehicles, supports advanced biofuels, and increases energy efficiency standards for lighting, appliances and government buildings. I also supported efforts to address high energy prices by preventing the administration from continuing to buy up oil from our nation's nearly full petroleum reserve.

U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Middleton

Russ says the drilling debate is a divisive debate?
What planet is he on? Almost 70 % of Americans want us to drill for our own oil and Russ sticks his finger to the people of Wisconsin. How could people have voted for this guy?

People of Wisconsin, how long will you put up with Russ Feingold?

It's your Money!

Gasoline is close to $4.00 gal.

It sure would be nice if some conservative runs against Russ next time. You just have to bring up 08 gas prices and it's a lock! Russ does too much harm in Washington. His mother should call him back home!

Great post. Hopefully we can reach a conclusion that will increase energy management and decrease gas prices!

Anonymous, thank you for the comment. If only everyone in this country would have an honest debate on drilling and energy management we could find solutions. Enjoy the weekend.
