Seven Green Bay-area high school seniors received $8,000 scholarships from the Georgia-Pacific Foundation.

They are among 50 scholarships awarded nationally with eight in Wisconsin. The scholarships are awarded to sons and daughters of employees.

Area winners are:

# Mary Baierl, a senior at Northeastern Wisconsin Lutheran High School who will attend Marquette University and major in mechanical engineering.

# Andrew Borzych, a senior at Pulaski High School, who will attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison and major in mechanical engineering.

# Derek Hoerres, a senior at Gillett High School, who will attend UW-Madison and major in pre-medicine.

# Rachel Kaminski, a senior at Bayport High School, who will attend Northwestern University and major in pre-law.

# Kayla Stankevitz, a senior at Ashwaubenon High School, who will attend UW-Madison and major in biomedical engineering.

# Kristin Stankevitz, a senior at Ashwaubenon High School, who will attend UW-Madison and major in mechanical engineering with a minor in Spanish.

# Lisa Szela, a senior at Pulaski High School, who will attend UW-Madison and will major in biology.
