A post that I did over at Kagen Watch

Kagen, "Together We Will" Sell You A Wreck

From the Shawano Leader dated October 16,2008 online edition.

"Economy main focus of questions for Rep. Kagen
By Tim Ryan, Leader Reporter

U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen (D-Wis.) visited with constituents in Shawano Wednesday for a Q&A and perhaps not surprisingly the economy dominated the conversation." Shawano Leader
“The days of borrow and spend have come to an end,” Kagen said. “Unfortunately, it’s ended with a car crash.”

Kagen said the Democratic Party, under the leadership of presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, would be best suited to pull the economy out of the ditch.

Can you picture Steve Kagen with a cigar hanging out of his mouth, whiskers and drives the wrecker? As soon as he pulls you out he's going to say he owns it! Like your home's mortgage some day. Kagen and Obama selling you your own car, even Carfax.com. won't help you They will sell you a wreck that you will pay a lot more for! No matter what, you lose! And the wreck they are selling you is a worse economy.

How much more can Steve Kagen try to sell you? He's in congress and he is part of the problem.
“The big lift will come when we have a president who is on our side, who thinks things through and listens to your problems,” Kagen said.

O K Steve, things will change when Obama listens to us!
With a President Obama, Kagen said, “you can count on an administration that cares more about those in need.”

Code word, "those in need" and "cares more" means he knows how to spend your money and will give it to someone that gave him campaign money. Payback to all his special interest groups!
Kagen, who voted against the recent $700 billion Wall Street bail out, said the economic crisis is also a crisis of confidence.

“We have to gain our confidence again,” he said. “That may not happen until we get a new administration.”

That is correct, when the people take back government with McCain, Palin and Gard. Your right Mr. Kagen!

Kagen blasted the Bush Administration for threatening “every social safety net,” and criticized White House opposition to the S-CHIP children’s health car bill.

We can't afford to cover every person up to age 25 like Steve Kagen wants in his version of the S-CHIP bill. Where was Steve Kagen for two years? I thought Congress makes and passes laws and spending bills and the president signs them. Again I ask, where has Steve Kagen been for the last two years? There he goes again blaming everyone else but Steve Kagen! "It's not my fault!" "I didn't do it!"

“What kind of a nation are we if we can’t guarantee the health of our children?” Kagen said.

What kind of politician is Steve Kagen, saying he will guarantee health care? There are no guarantees in this world.

Kagen, who was elected two years ago, once again faces a challenge from Republican John Gard.

Gard, in an e-mail response to Kagen’s remarks, said Kagen’s “votes to spend Social Security dollars on other government programs threatens the retirement security of everyone who is counting on Social Security. That's the biggest safety net I'm worried about right now.”

John Gard is right. All the money will have to come from somewhere. From your retirement 401 K and money that should be going to Social Security!

Kagen was asked about the tone of Gard’s television ads.

“John has a dangerous disregard for the truth,” Kagen said. “You can’t believe anything a career politician says.”

Steve Kagen was really talking about himself here. And two years in congress is not a career? Shall we bring up Kagen meeting Rove in Washington!

Gard was a state representative from 1987 until his unsuccessful run for the U.S. Congress two years ago. He became Speaker of the Assembly in 2003.

“I’ve only run ads where I talk about my disagreement with Con- gressman Kagen’s votes against American oil drilling, his votes to raise taxes and his votes to raid Social Security,” Gard said. “ I would have voted differently in each of those cases and I think most folks in Shawano would have too.”
Kagen called his run for re-election “a movement” rather than a campaign.

Who is giving him his talking points? What kool aid is he drinking? Yea right, a movement to higher taxes and socialism. Maybe Steve was talking about moving back home in January.

“It’s a movement toward getting good government back,” he said.

Again correct, with McCain, Palin and Gard.

Gard said Kagen has become very good at “the blame game” in his first term in Washington.

“Congress has the lowest approval rating its ever had because they’ve done nothing while gas prices skyrocketed and good people lost their job,” Gard said. “Two years from now I won’t look to blame someone else if I can’t point to what I’ve done to help people.”

Steve Kagen thinks he is doing a good job when congress has a 10% approval rating.

About two dozen people turned out for the meeting, held at Angie’s Main Cafe in downtown Shawano.

What, only two dozen people showed up? I bet half the people there was from his staff to make it look good! Twenty four people?

Leader editor Kent Tempus contributed to this story.

Together Steve Kagen will sell you a wreck! It's time to send Steve Kagen back to private practice!
