Kegan, Keeps Missing The Target

In the movie, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (Paramount Pictures, 1982) Captain Kirk tells Kahn .... but like a poor marksman you keep missing the target! The following is a guest editorial from 8th distrct congressman Steve Kagen on J S Online.

Everywhere in Wisconsin, people are asking for help to reduce prices for gasoline and health care, and rural areas, which make up much of the 8th District that I have the honor of representing, are affected most. How many times do we have to hear Steve Kagen tell us he is working hard? Is he trying to tell something to satisfy the people of the 8th district or is he just satisfying his own ego?

Our first step must be to solve our nation's health care crisis, which threatens public budgets, local businesses and all of our pocketbooks. In Congress, I've been working hard to guarantee access to affordable care for every citizen by:

Come on Steve. Twice, Kagen has to tell us he is working hard? He may be working hard with his staff and some interns, but please, give it up. What hard work are you doing with gasoline prices today? I say again, the target is fuel prices! Mr. Kagen, will you vote "YES" now to drilling in ANWR? Will you vote "YES" to drilling now off shore?

Why is his first step always to solve the health care crises? I understand that it is important but if people have no money from high fuel and food prices, they will not be able to take care of their health care. If you cannot drive to the clinic , or cannot afford to eat because prices keep going up, how will that matter?

• Ending discrimination due to pre-existing conditions,
• Leveraging down insurance costs ;
• Creating an open and transparent medical marketplace,

Here he brings up the same old same old. People's discretionary spending keeps going higher and higher! They are looking for relief from high energy prices and Steve Kagen keeps bringing up health care first. What gives? Leveraging down insurance costs? If they have no extra money, what will it matter, they will have no money for insurance! Open and transparent medical marketplace, say what? What is transparent when he wants us to have Canadian health care?

John Gard is talking today and now about what is hitting people the hardest ( fuel and energy costs) and Steve Kagen is talking health care.

Here again he repeats his lefty talking points about,
• "Drill for new oil across America", doesn't bring up ANWR.
•" Invest in every source of renewable energy", we don't need windmills now!
• "Prevent manipulation of oil prices in the energy markets", suing OPEC again!

He has good hard working people on his staff. He cannot be listening to them. He must be taking orders from Nancy Pelosi. Why else would he not focus on what the people right now, today are suffering with this non drilling congress.

These efforts will begin to get us back to the basics of being energy independent and put us on the path toward a sustainable economic future.

What effort is he trying to do? Steve Kagen keeps talking and talking and cannot even get his constituents needs correct. What effort is he putting forth?

But, today's impossible prices for energy and health care also share a common cause: the failure of Washington to live within its means, as we do in our own homes in Wisconsin. The health of our people and the strength of our economy depend upon spending less and saving more and on restoring faith in a government that practices these fundamental themes.

Wait, here he finally states "Washington has to live with in it's means" and what specifically is he doing to cut spending in D C ? He did not say! Why not? He just put it in to make a good sound bite! Another sound bite he thinks the people of Wisconsin might like?

Steve Kagen is like a poor marksman that keeps missing the target! The target today is fuel, food and energy costs to the people of Wisconsin and he wants to talk first about health care. Health care is important but the needs of the people on energy is more important today then his priority on health care.

Steve Kagen will have plenty of time to watch Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan next January and learn what he should of known today.

As Spock said, "Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Unless you are Steve Kagen and the liberal left.
