Will Wis. Republicans Fall Into The Trap

A win for Wisconsin physicians. Now how about the raid of the transportation fund? That's for another day.

Madison — The state Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down lawmakers' 2007 raid of a medical malpractice fund, delivering a victory to Wisconsin physicians, a defeat to Gov. Jim Doyle and the Legislature, and a bruising blow of more than $200 million to the state budget.

The ruling left open the crucial question of when lawmakers and Doyle will have to patch together a repayment plan out of the state's already shaky finances - opening the door to new possible spending cuts, tax increases or borrowing. A top aide to Doyle and the head of the state Senate said a special session for lawmakers ahead of November's elections is unlikely."

I'm wondering if this might happen. Will Diamond Jim Doyle call a special session in Madison and let the republicans fall into the trap?

Doyle and the democrats will say that the only way to pay this off is to raise taxes on the people of Wisconsin. I can see the democrat press spin the nightly and morning news on how there is no other option but to raise taxes. The dem press will talk to old people eating dog food. A single mom of three with no money who wants a free cell phone. And on and on.

Some republicans will be snookered into going along with tax increases and will then pay the price. Can you see the press, those evil republicans raised your taxes, its their fault and we need to elect more democrats.

Will republicans in Wisconsin grow some gonads or roll over for the left?
