Get Out And Vote

It's April 5th. It's time to get out and vote Prosser for State Supreme Court.

Some of you will have town boards, school board and other candidates and even maybe a referendum to vote for. My advice, if you don't know which one to vote for, don't vote. You should do your homework before you vote.

Bonduel Teachers Save Union Dues

From the Shawano Leader. I take back everything bad I said about Bonduel.

Bonduel teachers give up more than money

By Tiffany Wilbert
twilbert@shawanoleader.com
Bonduel teachers gave up more than money in their recent contract negotiations with the School Board.

They also gave up tenure, or seniority, in layoff situations - long a key aspect of most union contracts.

Under the two-year contract extension approved last week, however, layoff and subsequent hiring decisions will be based on merit rather than seniority.

“We were disappointed that those sections of the contract were removed — it took a lot of years to have the contract language implemented — but considering the circumstances that the alternative would have been no extension at all, we agreed to it,” said Chris Reinke, BEA president.

Yep, at least they saved the union membership dues.

The wage freeze ($25,000) and benefits changes (retirement $190,000, insurance $85,000) will save the district about $300,000. The district gained another $35,000 when teachers agreed to drop longterm care insurance and a $45,000 savings with a reduction in the alternate benefit plan for teachers who elected not to take insurance.

The new contract also eliminated the “sick leave bank,” which allowed teachers, after 15 years of employment, to be credited $45 per day for unused, accumulated sick leave. Under the contract extension, teachers will get 10 sick days per year and 120 days maximum.

How can this happen without Gov Walker even passing his plan? Huh! Good for the people running the school district.

What's Baby Face Tom Nelson Been Up To

It's been a while since I read anything on Baby Face  Tom Nelson. Mark Belling at 1130 WISN coined him Baby Face just so you know.Let's see, seems the paper did a article on the race for Outagamie County Executive.

From the Appleton P C

APPLETON — When it's all added up, the Outagamie County executive race could turn out to be the most expensive in the annals of the office.

Finance reports filed Monday with the county clerk's office show the candidates, Thomas Nelson and Jack Voight, have raised more than $175,000 since entering the race.

Let's take a look at the money..

Despite his late start, Nelson, 34, has managed to out-raise Voight, 66, nearly 2-1.

To date, he has taken in $113,634 to Voight's $61,600. He has received his largest share of support from the state Democratic Party, organized labor and donors from outside the county.

Individual donors and business interests in the county have made up the vast majority of support for Voight, who has been campaigning since June 2009.

Hummmmm, so Nelson got most of his money from the dems, unions and outside Outagamie county. Who would of thought. Seems Nelson is trying to buy an election. I wonder if the people of Outagamie County will show up and put Baby Face Nelson on permanent retirement?  Maybe Nelson should find a real job for once.

Vote Voight in Outagamie County.

World’s Largest HD Screen

Charlotte Motor Speedway to get World’s Largest HD Video Board » Geeky Gadgets

"The gigantic screen will measure 200-feet wide by 80-feet tall and sit near turns two and three along the back of the track. The placement makes it ideal for fans watching from the Turn four to Turn one area of the track. I wonder if they will play any video games on it as they did at Cowboys Stadium when its screen was being installed."

I have to go to Charlotte!

Pat Lucey at 93

From the Green Bay Press

MILWAUKEE — Former Democratic Gov. Patrick Lucey is withdrawing his support for Justice David Prosser for Supreme Court and is throwing it to Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg.

Lucey released a statement to the media Thursday evening saying the campaign has revealed what he called "a disturbing distemper and lack of civility" in Prosser, though he did not cite specifics.

So the Thursday before the election Lucey all of a sudden changes his mind. Why did he first support Prosser and who told him to switch now? And what does he mean by "a disturbing distemper and lack of civility" in Prosser? Maybe Lucey should watch this video

So did his union nurse tell him something else? Did Lucey really say that? With what the left has done so far, I don't think Lucey did what he really wanted to do. A shame the left will do anything. Even to a 93 year old former governor.

4:30 pm. Here's an update from Media Trackers A quote from Lucey. Oh boy.

After resigning, the 93-year-old Lucey said of Kloppenburg that she “has adhered throughout the campaign to even-handedness and non-partisanship and has exhibited both promising judicial temperament and good grace even in the heat of a fierce campaign.”

Really?

Why would anyone vote for JoAnne Kloppenburg?

Kloppenburg, Lake Front Property Poison Like A Salvage Yard

Is anyone really surprised how radical JoAnne Kloppenburg is towards lake front property owners? Richard Moore found more facts about the left leaning supreme court candidate.

Kloppenburg compares older nonconforming cottages to - Richard Moore:

"“Zoning ordinances must limit, so as quickly to eliminate, nonconforming uses and structures because they would violate equal protection if they did not,” Kloppenburg said. “The Wisconsin Supreme Court has held that it does not violate equal protection to require future buildings to conform to ordinance requirements while allowing pre-existing nonconforming buildings to remain out of conformance. Conversely, it would violate equal protection to allow all pre-existing nonconforming uses and structures to remain unregulated and permanently present.”

What’s more, she said, nonconforming properties were legal poison, and she compared them to a salvage yard in a residential neighborhood.

'No one would go out of their way to figure out how to let that salvage yard stay too long because it is so clearly inconsistent with and harmful to the residential area,” she said. “Under controlling law, structures in the shoreland setback are no different or less noxious.'"

Legal poison? Is she serious? Why would anyone vote for Kloppenburg? Mr Moore closes with this.

Her past is the best indication how she would vote on the high court. If Kloppenburg wins, anti-property rights’ forces will control the court, and could for years to come.

Go read the whole thing and then go vote Tuesday for David Prosser.

John Boehner Might Have Amnesia

Tea Party vs. John Boehner | Try 2 Focus
"Seems Speaker John Boehner has a choice to make when it comes to spending cuts in Washington. Side with the “Washington Way” or remember those who helped put the GOP in the majority in the House."

Seems Boehner might have forgotten how he became speaker. It's good to see great people like Try @ Focus on his case. You need to read all and watch video.

April Fool's Day

April Fool's Day -- History, Traditions, and Foolishness:

"Unlike most of the other nonfoolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. It is not like Halloween, where despite an interesting history, most people just put on Halloween costumes, get candy, and leave it at that. There really wasn't a 'first April Fool's Day' that can be pinpointed on the calendar. Some believe it sort of evolved simultaneously in several cultures at the same time, from celebrations involving the first day of spring.

The closest point in time that can be identified as the beginning of this tradition was in 1582, in France. Prior to that year, the new year was celebrated for eight days, beginning on March 25. The celebration culminated on April 1. With the reform of the calendar under Charles IX, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved to January 1."
