LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin corn farmers could be facing a weaker crop this year because the growing season was cooler than usual.

Bill Halfman is an agriculture agent with the University of Wisconsin-Extension in Monroe County. He says farmers are evaluating whether early frost in southwestern Wisconsin interfered with the ripening process.

Kevin Schoessow is an agriculture agent in northwestern Wisconsin. He says corn there probably matured before the frost hit, but the crops might have more moisture than is ideal. That could lead to storage and spoilage problems.

Schoessow says corn farmers are hoping to see warm and dry weather, but the National Weather Service says that's not in the forecast. Meteorologists predict cooler, wetter weather this month." Postcrescent - Cooler growing season may have hurt Wis. corn crop

So cooler is bad. Warmer is good. Seems like a normal fall to me. So it was good when we had hot weather? No rain is good, too much rain is bad. What is normal rain in Sept / October?

More moisture is bad. Dry is good. We're in a drought, we not in a drought. We need drought assistance, we need flood damage assistance. Yes I understand moisture content on harvesting corn.

"Farmers are hoping to see warm and dry weather, but the National Weather Service says that's not in the forecast." Where's global warming?

Yes I understand a little about corn and farming but it seems like talking out of both sides of your mouth or does the press just throw information out there for anyone to believe? The point here is how many times do you hear global warming is bad, global cooling is bad? We need to save the earth. The world is ending. Too much rain, too little rain. Too hot, too cold.

Farming has been with us since the beginning of time.

God Bless farmers and the crops they grow.
