School Board Recall

Why does it sometimes have to get to a recall to get school board members to give our children an education with in the most cost-effective manner for which they are responsible. Why do some school board members have no common sense when it comes to spending and education. It gets to this point because, well, how many levy increases will people take before they see what incompetency really is. People have said that things could get volatile.

Voters in the Mercer School District will be heading to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots after district residents had gathered enough names on a petition to force the recall election concerning current school board member Shannon Hiller.

The other two names on the ballot will be longtime Mercer area resident Deanna Pierpont and former Mercer School Board member Karl Anderson.

The petition forcing the recall election contained 230 signatures. A minimum of 205 signatures were required to force holding Tuesday's vote." Voters go to polls Tuesday in Mercer School board recall election

Pierpont has been a resident of the Mercer area for 46 years. She said that if she is elected she will dedicate herself to helping the children in the community to get the best possible education in the most cost-effective manner.

"Tax dollars have been squandered here recently paying for unnecessary expenditures," Pierpont said.

She cited $130,000 "to buy off the contract of a former administrator and $10,000 on unnecessary lawyers fees in the most recent fiasco."
