Kegan Takes Away Secret Ballot

Steve Kagen is saying to the people of the 8th district, who needs a secret ballot?

Here are two letters to the editor of our two fair and balance, Ahhhh, Green Bay Press and Appleton Post Crescent. Kagens Free Choice Act takes away secret balloting at union take overs at any size and all businesses if this passes. Funny how both letters are printed by two different newspapers on the same day. Looks like a form letter to me.

Read for yourself the opposite opinion. First take away secret ballot, next they will take away your secret ballot of all elections.

"Letters: Kudos to Kagen for his support of worker rights

February 26, 2009

Congressman Steve Kagen should be recognized and thanked for his continued support of the Employee Free Choice Act.

The EFCA would do three things: impose real penalties when companies violate workers' rights, set out an arbitration and mediation process when the company and workers can't agree on a first contract and give workers the option to form unions through a majority sign up process, if they choose.

Powerful corporations are actively opposing this legislation because it would give working people the tools to bargain for fair wages and benefits. I, for one, am proud our congressman continues to stand up to these elite special interests.

"Hats off to Kagen

February 26, 2009

DENMARK — Hats off to Congressman Steve Kagen for signing on as co-sponsor of the Employee Free Choice Act.

Most people don't realize how hard it is for workers to form a union. Today, most employers manipulate the system so they have months to harass, intimidate and even fire workers who want to form one. All workers should have the right to decide if they want a union free from harassment or intimidation.

The Employee Free Choice Act will finally guarantee that right to hard-working Americans who choose to work union. For too long, corporations and chief executive officers have had way too much control over our economy. From the mortgage crisis to the meltdown on Wall Street to the latest Ponzi scheme scandal, workers have been carved out and entire communities have been left behind.

With the free choice to join a union, working families can begin to counter corporate excess and make our economy work for all of us again. It takes guts to go against the corporate world and stand up for the rights of working people. I'm proud of Steve Kagen for wanting to restore fairness and balance in our country's labor laws by backing the Employee Free Choice Act.

Joseph Heyrman" Hats off to Kagen | greenbaypressgazette.com | Green Bay Press-Gazette

Kudos and hats off to these two gentlemen who seem to believe of taking away your freedom this country gave you.

Secret ballot, who needs it!
