Whether affected voters understand what's at stake and turn out at the polls to weigh in on the issues remains to be seen.
But Dale Knapp, of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance, is confident about one thing. He predicts that those who don't vote Tuesday will be among the first to complain when they perceive that local officials aren't doing as they wish.
"It's the same thing with property taxes," he said. "We hear from people in December and January when the property taxes have gone up, but that's not the time to worry about it.
"The time to worry about those things is when they're setting their budgets in the summer and fall." Johnson, the political scientist at UW-Green Bay, said: "It's unfortunate. By the time you have a problem, it's too late. We find this all the time. People (complain), 'I don't want that bridge there. I don't want the road there.' You had your public opportunity months ago to speak out on these things, but people don't pay attention."
How true this is and why doesn't the MSM talk about this more?
Same reason they are toties for the left.
