Pickford, Mich. —
With a top prize of $600 and plenty of ice, event organizers are predicting a solid turnout for the Eastern Upper Peninsula’s biggest and oldest ice fishing tournament — The Sault Area Sportsmans Club’s 2011 Walleye Jamboree.
“It’s been good since we got ice,” said Chairman Tom Ball, regarding the fishing on Munuscong Bay. “We were out last week and got a 14-inch perch and an 18-inch walleye on little spoons.”"
Tickets for the 2011 Walleye Jamboree — which begins at 1 a.m. Thursday and runs until noon on Sunday — can be purchased at Dan’s Resort and Cabins on the shores of Munuscong Bay; Peterson’s Country Store in Raber; MMC in Barbeau and Wilderness Treasures in Pickford. All registered participants will be eligible for the drawing on Sunday where dozens of prizes are dispersed to the crowd.
