SIMAC TO
CHALLENGE HOLPERIN

Rhinelander - Kim Simac, president of the Northwoods Patriots and a leader of the Tea Party movement in the state of Wisconsin, says she will challenge Jim Holperin for State Senate in the upcoming recall election. Simac will hold her campaign kick off Thursday, May 5 at 10 am at her new campaign headquarters (location-see below).

Over 23,000 voters throughout the 12th Senate district signed recall petitions against Holperin after he fled Wisconsin to avoid voting on balancing the state budget. Simac, who led the recall effort, says voters can count on the fact that she won't abandon them when times are tough.

"In this economy, people in the Northwoods are begging for jobs and Jim Holperin ran away from the job we sent him to do," Simac said, "When we needed someone to fight for us, Senator Holperin fled to Illinois instead. It's clear that Senator Holperin's priorities are with his political donors and not with the taxpayers."

Simac, a local activist for conservative politics, is the founder of the Northwoods Patriots located in Eagle River, WI. She is also the lst Vice Chair of the Vilas County Republican Party, President of the Republican Women of the North, and co-host of "The Kim and Steve Show", the Northwoods' only political talk radio show. In addition, Simac is a nationally known speaker for conservative issues and the author of award winning patriotic children's books. She owns the Great Northern Riding Club in Eagle River and, with husband Butch Simac, has raised nine children and now enjoys her eight grandchildren. Simac says she decided to run at the persistent urging of people throughout the area.

"When Jim Holperin ran away instead of fighting for the people of the Northwoods, I helped organize the recall against him," Simac said, "I was overwhelmed by the positive reaction the recall received and by the many people who enthusiastically urged me to run. After thoughtful consideration and prayer, I have decided that our area needs a voice that isn't afraid of challenges and won't run away from the responsibility of representing the people of Northern Wisconsin."
