Long on ambition but short on details, Gov. Jim Doyle’s
fifth State of the State left lots of blanks to be filled in later.

Wow , someone from our area making sense?
Sen. Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) said the issue comes
down to whether the state can afford to fund them.
“There were a lot of great idea talked about, in health care
and education, but when you're talking about new initiatives,
I think it's very problematic as far as coming up with the
ongoing dollars,” he said.

And from Our local Gary Tauchen tax increases and the
smoking ban.
“You're not going to find many Republicans that are going to
support a tax increase,” Tauchen said. “I don't think we need a
tax increase for people to know that smoking's bad for them.”
Is Gary giving lip service or does he really believe this?

I have to be up front here. I meet Mr Tauchen at our town
meeting. When he mentioned he worked in the Clinton
administration it made me wonder, is he a liberal in a republican
suit. You know RINO! He said he was against TABOR, I am
assuming he is for ethanol mandates, corn subsidies etc. So that's
two strikes against him already. When the third shoe drops then
I will know. Will he bend to Doyle's and the Dem's whims?
Will he support Governor Layton when the time comes?
Time will tell!
