MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former all-star pitcher is set to be sentenced for tax evasion this week in Madison.

Jerry Koosman, of Osceola, helped the New York Mets win the 1969 World Series. He gave up Pete Rose's landmark 4,000th career hit in 1984.

Prosecutors say the 66-year-old failed to pay federal income taxes for 2002, 2003 and 2004, defrauding the government out of as much as $90,000.

According to court documents, Koosman told investigators he researched tax laws and concluded only federal workers, corporate employees and District of Columbia residents were subject to federal taxes.

He pleaded guilty in May. His sentencing is set for Thursday. He could face up to a year in prison." Wausaudailyherald - Former MLB pitcher's sentencing set in Wisconsin

I guessing Koosman is of the right so I will speculate. The difference is republicans go to jail and democrats get the free pass.
