ASHWAUBENON — Sporting goods superstore chain Cabela’s will anchor the gateway site to the Lambeau Development District in a move expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the area. Construction on the store is expected to begin within 60 days, and the store is set to open by July 2013.
The addition of the Nebraska-based retailer to the 21-acre site on the southeast corner of the Lombardi Avenue/U.S. 41 intersection was announced Friday morning in front of nearly 50 people, mostly business leaders and local leaders.
“We won Green Bay!” Cabela’s CEO Tommy Millner said, referencing previous talks ofBass Pro Shops possibly building a store at the site owned by the Green Bay Packers.

WUPN: “We have to wonder why the paper didn’t talk to any democrats like Bob Jauch or Dale Schultz on this? Did anyone talk to Dave Hansen? A win for jobs, for Ashwaubenon, the Packers, the people of the area and a win for Scott Walker and the republicans in Wisconsin.
This should be a commercial in the upcoming election.
Remember this letter from the four dems last January from Wis Politics.”

I grew up just a few blocks from there. Before they rebuilt Hwy 41 around the west side of town in the late seventies, it was dry farm land. The so-called wetland is nothing more than an overfull ditch.
