No Deer In Wisconsin

Just a not binding only my opinion about Wisconsin's opening day gun deer hunt.

In the Nicolet Forest, not a lot of shots heard, no does, fawns or bucks seen.

Neighbor talked to a hunter in southern Wisconsin (Richfield area), no deer seen.

Neighbor also talked to hunter in western Wisconsin and again, no deer seen.

Maybe gov elect Scott Walker needs to go to more buck only zones, take less doe's and build up the heard.

Maybe even cut short bow hunting during the rut!

What say you?

I have been hearing the same thing. The DNR has so mismanaged the deer herd. They have no credibility left. Let's hope Gov. Walker makes radical changes to the out-of-control DNR.

JS reports that some 15-y-o (!!) took THREE in one day, all multi-point bucks.

Channel 6/Milwaukee reports that a local butcher shop's deer-carcass count is about 50% ahead of last year's.

Dad, you are my adopted father but it rained up here with lightening and thunder.

I walked the afternoon to see if I could flush out a buck. All I got was wet up to my arse and still nothing.

Can you believe everything you see from the MSM?

Hope you bagged your trophy buck.

Happy thanksgiving to you and our family.

God Bless you all.

No surprise that there are regional differences.

The deer population in Milwaukee's western suburbs is pretty substantial, although not quite as heavy as two years ago.

Up Nort' population could be much different.

Depart Thursday night for Up Nort' to find Biggest Bambi. Might actually see more than one, which is all I've SEEN in three years, but the fun is being there, right?

Happy T'Giving!

Report from the front:

2 bucks and one taken at a place near Black River Falls. Large 18-pointer sighted, no shot taken.

No other deer SEEN in 2 weekends' time spent. Few gunshot reports heard, either.

One coyote, 2 hawks, 1 juvenile weasel, 3 squirrels sighted. One red squirrel taken.

Dad, thanks for the update.

I know the first weekend was higher in counts but it will be interesting to see the final numbers.

Have a GREAT week.
