MADISON — Wisconsin officials want farmers to stop hoarding manure and empty their storage units.

University of Wisconsin-Extension agents say spreading manure on farm fields can cost thousands of dollars a year.
State agriculture, environmental and academic experts say they're getting reports from manure haulers and county agriculture agents that suggest financially stressed farmers may be delaying emptying their storage structures to save money.
