RE: HOLPERIN 12th
DISTRICT SENATE RECALL

As Spring finally hits the North Woods and especially in Oconto County where
the ‘row-crops meet the tree-tops’, it is important to remember what we all
went through in mid February and early March as a result of the Democrat
Senator’s abandoning their jobs and turning their back on their constituents.

Two Democrat Senator representing Oconto County, Senator Jim Holperin
and Senator Dave Hansen, fled the State to avoid doing their job. In my
opinion – and I believe the majority of the people in northern Wisconsin – this
was a childish act and any words Senator Holperin and Senator Hansen say
to deflect or condone their behavior is nonsense. Although they continue to
say, that they were ‘stalling the vote on Governor Walker’s Budget Repair Bill’,
is this what we elect Senators for? Stalling? Their job is not to run away from
a debate, but rather to defend their point and debate it. The Democrat
Assembly Members debated hard – because of special interest, the Democrat
Senators did not defend their point or even bother to show-up for the debate.

As I said when I filed suit against Senator Holperin in Oconto County Court
asking the Judge to immediately force him to return to do his job and
represent the people of the 12
th
District: ‘in the northwoods, anyone fortunate
to have a job does it under the rules of employment or they quit or get fired”. It
is clear that Senator Holperin broke the rules of the Wisconsin Senate – this
was confirmed by the Oconto County Judge. Do we want Senator Holperin to
get a pass on this? I doubt it. Do you get a pass if you don’t show up for work
in Antigo, Eagle River, Peshtigo or Oconto? Of course not – why does he, or
Senator Hansen?

Now, as a result of circumstances and legislative actions in Madison, Senator
Holperin is back at work in Madison. Ashamed, I would suppose, of his
fleeing to Illinois and having to run against his decision in a Recall Election.
My name has been circulated as a possible Candidate in an eventual 12th
Senate District Recall Election running as a Republican Candidate against
Senator Holperin.

I will say first; as a fiscal conservative I do not like recalls as they are
inefficient, cost money, waste people’s time and resources and confuse
voters. Second, Elected Officials regularly come up for re-election and can be
replaced at that time by the will of the Voters. However, this being said,
because of recall activities by both Democrats and Republicans we face
an electoral reality – frankly because of the actions of Senator Holperin. He
brought this on himself.

I am definitely and actively considering running as Senator for State Senate
District 12 as a challenge to Senator Holperin. According to the rules, the
Government Accountability Board (GAB) must certify signatures on Recall
Petitions. Therefore, the GAB should be given time to complete their job and
once they have an official decision, I will have a formal announcement.

One last point; as a response to my Motion in Oconto County Court against
Senator Holperin’s action, he said, this was one of "many tactics designed to
coax (Democrats) into returning." Senator Holperin, it was not a tactic. You
simply failed to fulfill your sworn oath and duty as a State Senator to your
constituents in the 12th District and I simply called you on it.

And it was interesting how the President-elect failed to lift his admiring audience by repeated – but rather hesitant – invocations of the brainless slogan he was forced by his minders to adopt against his will – ‘Yes, we can’. They were supposed to thunder ‘Yes, we can!’ back at him, but they just wouldn’t join in. No wonder. Yes we can what exactly? Go home and keep a close eye on the tax rate, is my advice. He’d have been better off bursting into ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony’ which contains roughly the same message and might have attracted some valuable commercial sponsorship.

And they say we are robots for the right. Wow, the only thing I ever purchased was a Ronald Reagan book after he died.

Adding insult to injury for Republicans: The FEC is obligated to complete a rigorous audit of McCain’s campaign coffers, which will take months, if not years, and cost McCain millions of dollars to defend.

Obama is expected to escape that level of scrutiny mostly because he declined an $84 million public grant for his campaign that automatically triggers an audit and because the sheer volume of cash he raised and spent minimizes the significance of his errors. Another factor: The FEC, which would have to vote to launch an audit, is prone to deadlocking on issues that inordinately impact one party or the other – like approving a messy and high-profile probe of a sitting president.

McCain, on the other hand, accepted the $84 million in taxpayer money, which not only barred him from raising or spending more – allowing Obama to fund many times more ads and ground operations – but also will keep his lawyers busy for a couple years explaining how every penny was spent.

MADISON — The Government Accountability Board decided today it will require clerks to perform identity checks on all voters who registered since 2006, a move it resisted before last week’s election.

The checks in which voters’ personal information is compared against other government databases are required under a federal law designed to ensure clean elections.

MADISON — A prosecutor who pursues voter fraud issues says he won’t file charges against a woman who voted twice in last week’s election.

The Milwaukee woman said she voted absentee and in person at her neighborhood polling place on Nov. 4. Edna Byrd said she thought poll workers would turn her away or the machine wouldn’t accept her ballot because she had voted absentee.

But after her ballot was accepted, Byrd panicked and turned herself in to the Government Accountability Board.

Assistant Milwaukee County District Attorney Bruce Landgraf confirmed today that he spoke with Byrd and will not pursue charges. Because Byrd turned herself in immediately, Landgraf said he did not see any evidence of criminal intent.

It is time the conservative movement go in another direction. With the pounding the republicans took in 2006 and 2008, it is time to throw the last shovel of dirt on the grave of the GOP. It's sad, the party that began in Ripon Wisconsin can only now be a distant part of this countries history. Ronald Reagan must be turning in his grave.

Why did this happen? How did this happen? It happened to men and women who went to Washington and forgot how they got there. They forgot their beliefs. They crawled on their hands and knees to become popular, to be friends with the left, to think and even beg the MSM to like them. They were sent to Washington to do the work of the people. They promised change, they promised less government, they promised to do the will of the people. What happened is they turned away from conservatism. With power comes greed and greed runs ramped in our capitol.

When republicans had the chance to make a difference, they fell to money and power and thought the people back home would not notice, would never hear or see. They just wanted to get along. They became moderate and centrist. They passed No Child left behind. They passed campaign finance reform. "We need to take the money out of politics. They went on vacations with Lobbyist Jack Abramoff and thought it was just fine. In 2006 it was Mark Foley. In 2008 to win a presidential election we had to reach out to moderates. To reach out and beg for voters that would never vote for us in the first place. We were ignored until Sara Palin gave us hope. Sara Palin spoke for us and to us, hope for the conservative people of this country. And what now, those same republicans are trashing her.

On a personal note, talking to people in my area, they equate republicans as racist, rich, Mark Foley, nuts who lie,cheat, earmarks and can't be trusted. Remember Bush 41, Read my lips, no new taxes. The skin heads last week were told to me, "they are typical republican". No matter what a republican does they get the bad press and people are sick and tired with the name republican. Their beliefs is anyone with an "R" by their name is scum. Get out of Iraq, it's Bush's fault, greedy republicans. They are only for the rich! A bunch of crooks! The media has painted the republicans so negative that anyone with an "R" is dirt. The press did their job and people believed everything they hear no matter what the truth could be.

Sorry, I'm just tired of those that are republicans that gave up their beliefs and ruined the Grand Old Party. I' m also tired of being called radical and a nut for my beliefs just because I was considered a republican.

I am not a republican. I am conservative. All the pundit's are saying we need to work with the moderates, we need to work with the democrats, we need to reach across the aisle. We need to move to the middle.

As conservatives, we will not move to the middle.

As conservatives, we will not seek moderates.

As conservatives, we will protect life and especially the unborn.

As conservatives, we are for less government not more.

As conservatives, we will not accept the country club blue blooders.

As conservatives, we will not give up our freedoms that our forefathers gave us.

As conservatives we do not spread the wealth, you earn what you have and what is yours is not the governments.

We need to change to a new name for conservatives. The media painted the republicans so negative that anyone with an "R" is dirt.

Where do we go from here? We go forward with conservatives like Palin, like Rush, what Ronald Reagan would expect of us. How do we do that. We need to first tell republicans we are not a part of their party and that includes money!

Maybe it is time for a "Conservative" party. We will become our own party.

It may take years but at least it will be our party. We need to first accept our party, We need to plan our party. We need to take the movement forward. It will not be easy. We will be called names, be smeared, will get negative press, ignored, beat up, again it will not be easy. Oh forgot, that's already happening to us who are conservatives. Money, not a problem! We need to find a leader, a true conservative in politics, maybe the Governor of Alaska.

Governor Palin, will you lead our party?

Proposal 1, a medical marijuana initiative, passed by a margin of 63% to 37%, with 87% of precincts reporting, the Associated Press reports this morning. The bill legalizes the use of medical marijuana by patients with “debilitating medical conditions” when approved by a physician. Michigan will become the 13th state to legalize medical marijuana use.

Proposal 2, a measure likely to expand embryonic stem cell research in the state, passed — but by a much narrower margin than Proposal 1. The vote was 52%-48%, with 87% of precincts reporting, the Detroit Free Press reports. The measure allows researchers to use embryos from fertility treatments to create embryonic stem cells, provided that the embryos would otherwise be discarded.

That work, which involves the destruction of the embryo, is legal under federal law (though not funded by federal research dollars). But it’s been banned in Michigan under a state law that prohibits the destruction of embryos in most circumstances.

Did you hear the latest from Steve Kagen?

On public radio a caller asked Steve Kagen if he would support taxing the Indian casino profits?

A link to play the audio is at the end. Take a listen. I transcribed to type the best I could. It's pretty revealing.

Kagen responded,

I do know the Native Americans enjoy a government to government relationship that's established in our constitution. I think it is very important to honor each and every element in our constitution. so I'd be happy to look at that ah idea. I don't know how we would tax Japan or tax Canada or tax another nation for their activities and it really is a government to government relationship.

Host then talks about issue being a grey area.

Kagen comes back.

it's not grey at all, It's outlined in the constitution that the tribes are Native Americans and are sovereign nations with in the United States of America and that is the constitution and until unless the constitution is (I think he said, not sure) ratified I took an oath to uphold the constitution.

Host said they are defended by the U S and join the military.

Kagen. and they do in higher numbers and percentages then we do, so it's their very loyal to the country and very loyal to their own nations and I will defend each and every constitutional element that's perhaps why the NRA has endorsed me I support the 2nd amendment as well , I am a strong supporter of the constitution,

Caller breaks in so you wouldn't support legislation to tax their profits.

Kagen again, well I think you have to ask the question a bit differently, ah would you say it's possible for us to tax Canada for their what ever activities they got? It's a government to government relationship and ah that would have to be a discussion held between our two governments.

Host, if that kind of tax were be passed would it survive a court test?

Kagen, I'm not an attorney, I'm just a law maker not a law breaker. I would say ah that this is an issue that the president will have to negotiate between the elected leaders of the sovereign nation, it isn't something that the legislature and the state house or the congress can do unilaterally.

First, seems Mr Kagen says we cannot tax other countries like Canada. Then why did he sponsor a bill to sue OPEC and other oil countries? Here from Boston.com

I am not against the Native American running casinos . I am not for taxing them. I will be honest that the percent paid to the state should be looked at but to tax the casino's is CRAZY! My position is they are smart businesses. Why else would they offer games of chance to let other people drop their money at their casinos. If people like me sometimes go and contribute, good for them. This article started because of Mr Kagen's comment that you can't sue countries but then he tries to sue oil countries. He's a hypocrite. You can't have it both ways. You can't lie to your constituents.

Then at the end of this audio comes something you have to think about.

Or should the Native Americans running the casinos think about this?

Does Steve Kagen know something that we don't? If Barack Obama is elected, that he will try to tax the Indian Casino's for more cash? He wants to tax anyone over $250, 000?

He said "I'd be happy to look at that ah idea." What , look at it means it's on the table, WOW!!!!!

Listen very carefully, he said "this is an issue that the president will have to negotiate between the elected leaders of the sovereign nation, " He used the word WILL, he didn't say WOULD or could or might or maybe, he said WILL!

What does Steve Kagen know that the tribes don't?

Native Americans , can you really trust Steve Kagen's word? Are you being deceived out of some of your profits ? The people from the casino's and the people that they support can only answer that question.

He lied before, he will lie again!

Maybe someone needs to ask Steve Kagen some hard hitting questions.

When he took office a little less than two years ago, U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen was all about reforming the way Washington operates.

"The first thing we did was change the rules to end runaway deficit spending," Kagen said in a Jan. 30, 2007, press release. "Now, we'll freeze federal spending at last year's level, and eliminate earmarks in the federal budget."

But something changed.

Now Kagen is a big fan of earmarks.

He had three in the recently passed defense-spending bill, including $800,000 for Utility Tool and Trailer in Clintonville for aluminum military trailers.

Not surprisingly, two executives with Utility Tool gave the first-term Democratic congressman $4,600 earlier this year, and the pair then chipped in a similar amount in September while the measure was pending.

But Kagen isn't alone in hauling pork home for campaign donors.

And then starts loading earmarks into defense spending? Lie # 3, I thought he was going to end earmarks?

And now Steve Kagen and his democratic friends want to take away your 401K.

Spreading the wealth? "Um, doesn't cost the government money?" It's our money she is talking about.

Now how can you believe Steve Kagen to say he will protect your 401 K? How can you believe he will change Washington? What was he doing for two years? Can you really, really believe him? Can you trust Steve Kagen? How many times will Steve Kagen fool you?

You see, Steve Kagen will say anything to get elected just like in 2006 then ends up deceiving the people of the 8th district.

You have to ask yourself this question, "Can you believe Steve Kagen?"

I believe in the people of the 8th district.

I believe the people of the 8th will send Steve Kagen back to private practice.

APPLETON — A 57-year-old Appleton man faces misdemeanor charges after going to the county Republican Party headquarters to complain about candidate calls to his home.

Benjamin Porter, listed in police and jail records as David Benjamin Porter, was arrested Monday after he allegedly pushed a 68-year-old disabled Republican volunteer.

He was released from jail after posting a $650 cash bond on charges of disorderly conduct and battery.

Was it worth 650 bucks? Why did the paper say his real name was from "police and jail records?" What does that have to do with anything. Wow!

Officials from the Republican Party of Outagamie County said the man has been calling the office for more than a week complaining about campaign calls.

Police Lt. Steve Elliott said Porter told the arresting officer he would "disrupt the Republican Party every time they disrupted him."

Porter left a note with his name, address and bank balance in the GOP headquarters on W. College Avenue after the incident.

Left his bank balance? What? Time to pull out the Reynolds wrap for the tin hats.

Porter, who said he is a restaurant worker, said the frequent calls from candidates got to him.

"The Republican Party, just as they did four years ago, continues to call my house six times a day for one candidate or another," he said. "They always promise to quit calling but they continue to call."

Susan Weiss, the GOP membership chairwoman, said a woman who walks with a cane was alone in the office when Porter arrived.

The woman put a hand on his arm to calm him.

"He screamed 'Don't touch me.' He pushed her and she fell backwards and hit the back of her head on the counter," Weiss said.

The woman declined medical treatment.

Who is this lady, she is a hero! Tough as nails and declined treatment!

As I said, if this was at a dem office the injured worker would of been air lifted to the hospital, wear a neck brace and would of been on every t v station in Green Bay. I could just hear it, evil republican beats up campaign worker. You would also hear that a lawsuit was also filed in the disturbance! It would be a fire storm!

I guess he could / will / did vote for Obama.

Press release today from the state Democratic Party -- Another Republican ad full of half truths and full lies -

MADISON – The Democratic Party of Wisconsin today called on Green Bay-Fox Valley TV stations to immediately pull a negative political ad running by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) that contains false, misleading, and deceptive statements about Congressman Steve Kagen’s record.

Each and every claim in the NRCC ad is false and misleading, and knowingly misstates Kagen’s voting on the issues of taxes, Medicare, and immigration. DPW attorneys have filed letters with Green Bay TV stations to serve notice of the stations' legal responsibilities and potential liabilities for airing false claims. “This shady ad is chock full of lies about Congressman Kagen’s record and needs to be taken off the air immediately,” said Joe Wineke, Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. “The NRCC has a long history of running negative, false ads, and just last week TV stations in Alabama took down an ad from this same group. We are now asking Green Bay TV to follow suit and pull these lies from the air now.”

The ad falsely accuses Congressman Kagen of “voting for the largest tax increase in history.” The ad cites the passage of the Congressional Budget Resolution for the U.S. Government for Fiscal Year 2008. This vote does not, and cannot by its very nature, be considered a vote for a tax increase. Simply put, Congress cannot increase taxes in a budget resolution.

The NRCC also claims, falsely, that Congressman Kagen, “voted to cut Medicare and to hike taxes on private health insurance.” The NRCC fails to provide any documentation to support this claim – nor could it, as the bill it cites actually increased benefits.

Lastly, the ad falsely states that Congressman Kagen “fought to make it easier for illegal aliens to get health care.” The NRCC's claim is an outright lie. The non-partisan Congressional Quarterly states that the legislation’s final version specifically “Clarified that the bill does not allow for federal payment for individuals who are not legal residents.” A copy of this non-partisan analysis is attached with this letter.


The ad in question has been running for several days in the Green Bay-Fox Valley TV market, repeating factually incorrect statements and misrepresenting Congressman Kagen’s voting record. So WEAC, DNC and all the other special interest groups on behalf of Kagen against John Gard are all truthful and honest? Not! Somebody is running scared.

When you shine the light of truth on the left they are just like a bunch rats, they just go and hide!

We need to send Steve Kagen back to private practice.
