Walleye Fishing, Females, Males and Being At The Bar

From Bill Sherer over at the Lakeland Times. If your a fisherman, it's a good read.

Walleyes on the fly: A primer to fishing opener - The Lakeland Times - Minocqua, WI:
"That means walleye fishing for opening weekend (May 7), should be just about peaking. For a change, our season will actually open when the walleyes are really in shallower water, on top of the rock bars, at river and creek mouths, and just about anywhere there are some gravel areas at shallower depths where they can successfully spawn.

The larger females will be on these areas only for a short period of time while the males will linger waiting for more females to arrive - it kind of sounds like a typical bar."

Hope and Change, Unemployment Up To 9%

Watching and listening to the stock channel. They are peeing in their pants and dresses on how the stock market futures are way up, life is good,

My question, gov stats show an increase of 244,000 new jobs and unemployment goes up from 8.8% to 9%? How is that good news?

Looks like oil and gasoline futures are going up also. Short lived decrease in gasoline. Huh!

Economy adds 244k jobs, rate ticks up to 9 pct. - Yahoo! Finance

Economy added 244k jobs in April, 3rd straight month of solid hiring; rate ticked up to 9 pct.

Jeannine Aversa, AP Economics Writer, On Friday May 6, 2011, 8:32 am
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Employers added more than 200,000 jobs in April for the third straight month, the biggest hiring spree in five years. But the unemployment rate rose to 9 percent in part because some people resumed looking for work.

The Labor Department says the economy added 244,000 jobs last month. Private employers shrugged off high gas prices and created 268,000 jobs -- the most since February 2006.

The gains were widespread. Retailers, factories, financial companies, education and health care and even construction companies all added jobs. Federal, state and local governments cut jobs.

The data suggests businesses are confidence in the economy despite weak growth earlier this year.

Still, unemployment increased slightly from the 8.8 percent in March. It was the first increase since November"

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A popular sport is at the heart of a debate on government spending.

For the past decade, the federal government has spent millions of dollars sponsoring NASCAR drivers. The most recognizable is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. whose team is sponsored by the National Guard. "

If GOV want's to cut back on NASCAR spending, why not save more on cutting ethanol subsidies.Ethanol now pays for the fuel in NASCAR! Gov spends $$$$ on NASCAR for recruiting! Cut NASCAR sponsorship and you need to go back to the DRAFT!!!!!

Go head, MAKE MY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

States Regain Control Of Gray Wolf

States regain control of gray wolf populations - Leader-Telegram: Daily Updates:

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - President Barack Obama's administration on Wednesday moved to lift Endangered Species Act protections for 5,500 gray wolves in the Northern Rockies and Great Lakes, drawing the line on the predators' rapid expansion over the past two decades."

Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin have plans meant to keep the populations at healthy levels while allowing government agents to kill animals that can't be driven away. None would allow hunting or trapping for at least five years, although states could revise those plans.

P R, Kim Simac For State Senate

May 4, 2011

Press Secretary
SIMAC TO
CHALLENGE HOLPERIN

Rhinelander - Kim Simac, president of the Northwoods Patriots and a leader of the Tea Party movement in the state of Wisconsin, says she will challenge Jim Holperin for State Senate in the upcoming recall election. Simac will hold her campaign kick off Thursday, May 5 at 10 am at her new campaign headquarters (location-see below).

Over 23,000 voters throughout the 12th Senate district signed recall petitions against Holperin after he fled Wisconsin to avoid voting on balancing the state budget. Simac, who led the recall effort, says voters can count on the fact that she won't abandon them when times are tough.

"In this economy, people in the Northwoods are begging for jobs and Jim Holperin ran away from the job we sent him to do," Simac said, "When we needed someone to fight for us, Senator Holperin fled to Illinois instead. It's clear that Senator Holperin's priorities are with his political donors and not with the taxpayers."

Simac, a local activist for conservative politics, is the founder of the Northwoods Patriots located in Eagle River, WI. She is also the lst Vice Chair of the Vilas County Republican Party, President of the Republican Women of the North, and co-host of "The Kim and Steve Show", the Northwoods' only political talk radio show. In addition, Simac is a nationally known speaker for conservative issues and the author of award winning patriotic children's books. She owns the Great Northern Riding Club in Eagle River and, with husband Butch Simac, has raised nine children and now enjoys her eight grandchildren. Simac says she decided to run at the persistent urging of people throughout the area.

"When Jim Holperin ran away instead of fighting for the people of the Northwoods, I helped organize the recall against him," Simac said, "I was overwhelmed by the positive reaction the recall received and by the many people who enthusiastically urged me to run. After thoughtful consideration and prayer, I have decided that our area needs a voice that isn't afraid of challenges and won't run away from the responsibility of representing the people of Northern Wisconsin."

APPLETON (AP) - The family of an Appleton soldier killed last week in Afghanistan says he was an outdoorsman who kept everyone laughing with his great sense of humor.

Army Sgt. Matthew D. Hermanson's family released a statement Tuesday. They say the 22-year-old had 'a vibrant personality, exuberant smile and quick-witted humor.'

Hermanson was fond of deer-hunting trips with his father, brothers and friends to their land in northern Wisconsin, his family says. And they say he loved serving his country and had 'great loyalty' for his fellow servicemen."

From his families statement.

Matt loved vacationing on Berry Lake with his family and friends Matt W., Brandon, Dustin, Ian and Andy. His antics, tricks and hours of endurance on water skis, knee boarding or tubing with his friends, made for great conversation and laughs in the cabin and around the campfire. Rachel was Matt's one true love and he loved her with all his heart.

Another Step Towards Ending R T A's

Owen has the news.
Boots and Sabers - The blogging will continue until morale improves...:
"A legislative committee voted 12-4 Tuesday to add to the state budget a provision dissolving four regional transit authorities, including one in Dane County that had developed a plan for improved bus service.

Now let’s work on the other unelected bodies with taxing authority."

The work of the people is getting done.

Why We Elected Scott Walker, HWY 41 Interstate Project

Scott Walker wants to change HWY 41, Milwaukee to Green Bay into an interstate highway. From the Green Bay Press.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker wants U.S. 41 between Green Bay and Milwaukee's Mitchell Interchange to be upgraded to an interstate.

Walker announced plans for improving a 142-mile stretch of the highway in a press conference at the U.S. 41 Interstate Conversion Office on Green Bay's west side.

He said the state would do an environmental study that would allow Interstate signs to be installed by 2015.

“U.S. 41 connects crucial regions of Wisconsin with economic impacts that benefit local, state and regional economies,” Walker said in a statement issued by his office. “Converting the corridor to an Interstate highway will provide enhanced safety, mobility and economic development potential."

U.S. Rep. Tom Petri, R-Fond du Lac, supported the proposal.

"Upgrading U.S. Highway 41 will give a boost to the regional economy, which is why I worked successfully to have it designated as a future interstate in the 2005 federal transportation law,” Petri said in the statement issued by Walker's office.

“The Milwaukee to Green Bay corridor and the Fox Valley are major centers for economic growth and employment in Wisconsin, and the entire area deserves the infrastructure necessary to support the businesses there. 'Interstate' is our premier class of roads, and this region deserves no less, so I am pleased to be working with Gov. Walker on this to build our state's competitiveness and create jobs.”

U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble, R-De Pere, also endorsed the idea.

“I’m excited about this announcement to improve Highway 41, and believe this is a necessary upgrade to our infrastructure that will increase our chance for economic development and job creation,” Ribble said in a separate statement.

So even Reid Ribble is for  this change. I haven't heard anyone else mention this but I will speculate. Word is it would cost some where around $20 mil. So if highway 41 turns into an interstate, that would mean a lot of funding would have to come from the Feds.

Seems it would be better for the feds to spend money on a Milwaukee to Green Bay interstate highway then spending it on a Milwaukee to Madison choo choo.

Walker is thinking big picture and in the end, save the Wisconsin transportation fund for local highways and roads.

That's why we elected Scott Walker. Just my take.

Kool Aid Drinking Candidate Runs Against Harsdorf

Teacher challenges Harsdorf | Pierce County Herald | Ellsworth, Wisconsin:
"A National Teachers Association director and Ellsworth English and drama teacher announced her candidacy Tuesday for the 10th District Wisconsin Senate seat held by Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls).

During a Democratic Party event held at noon in Lakefront Park in Hudson, Shelly Moore, who lives in River Falls, announced she will oppose Harsdorf in the recall election expected this summer.

“I am slightly disappointed but not surprised by this pick,” said St. Croix County Republican Party Chairman Jesse Garza in an email this morning. “It’s one thing to have a union member to run, but this is a bought and paid for Kool-Aid drinking candidate.”"

This could be a fun election to follow. We're for Harsdorf.

As he and his team waited for McRaven to report whether bin Laden was indeed in the compound, Panetta says the room was tense. “I kept asking Bill McRaven, ‘OK, what the hell’s this mean?’ and when McRaven finally said they had IDed “Geronimo,” the mission codename for bin Laden, “All the air we were holding came out.” When the helicopters left the compound 15 minutes later, the room broke into applause."

About Osama, Couldn't Say It Any Better

Thanks Ace.

Ace of Spades HQ:

"Let Me Say Something About Bush and Cheney: For the last four years, they have known they broke KSM and this other high value target and got the names of Osama's couriers.

They have only stated elliptically, without specifics, that 'important information was learned.'

They were called liars every time they said this.

At any time, they could have exposed their critics as the anti-American, terrorist-coddling hyperpartisans they were, by revealing this crown jewel of American intelligence.

But they didn't.

They allowed their names to be slurred on a daily basis in order to preserve the secret. To allow Obama to capitalize on the information they procured.

Well.

The secret is out now.

It's time for credit to be taken and apologies to be granted -- or apologies to be forced and shamed out of people."

Thank You President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Hey Liberals, Bush did it, Obama didn't! Get over it!

O K, so I call the above number around 3:40 PM and talk to the Ribble office or that is who Karl said where he was from when he picked up the phone. I will paraphrase the conversation since I don't tape my phone calls yet.

I first asked him is the meeting tonight or Wednesday? I said his e mail and face book page both said, Wednesday May 2nd. He did tell me the meeting was Wednesday. Didn't seem to care the e mail and Face book was wrong. Went right over his head, he didn't care! Oh brother, Houston, we have a problem. Obviously he didn't care they have it wrong!

I then asked him if I sign up on Face Book why I would want Face Book to have my name, phone number, and e mail address put out across Face Book? I thought he would give me the right answer but had to settle for this. He said, he doesn't know. WHAT!!!! He doesn't do Face Book so he didn't know. You think I'm kidding you, Wait.

He had my phone number from caller ID and repeated my 715 home phone number. I gave him my e mail address and he said they would contact me on the meeting. I asked will they call me or give me an e mail? He wasn't sure but someone would contact me. He just wasn't sure about anything in our conversation.

Oh brother, is this the kind of Congressman people in the Wisconsin 8th are getting?

I will say when ever I called Steve Kagen's office, if they didn't have an answer they said they would get back to me. I can't believe I would say this. At least Kagen had a competent staff. What the heck do we have now with Ribble?

Do I have to make the transfer of Kagen to Ribble on the Obama / Pelosi puppet Reid Ribble?

Mr Ribble, can't you just be the congressman people expect from you, do your job and cut big government. Can you please direct your staff to do their job. If they don't have an answer, then have someone call their constituent back.

Let me be honest here. I didn't vote for Ribble but did vote in the election that elected him. I live in his district and have a right to speak my mind pro or con on Reid Ribble!

Last week I read he had a town hall meeting and never got any information about it. I e mailed Ribble's office and they told me to sign up for his newsletter. Is this what I get for trying to get information from Congressman Reid Ribble? Wednesday, May 2nd phone Town Hall meeting?

I will say I have been busy following the Holperin Recall. I guess I have to be the only one in the the Wisconsin 8th to keep Ribble honest!

Ever since Reid Ribble lied to me about his residency issue before the election, I will hold his feet to the fire until he proves he is the congressman we deserve in Washington.

Wisconsin, Buy-cott Update

If you didn't know my grandson had his First Communion today and Berry Laker celebrated a little more then planned. Pretty proud of our grandson. God really moves in mysterious ways.

I didn't make it to Woodman's in Green Bay but got a report from a southern Wisconsin reporter.

Thanks Randy.

Real Debate Wisconsin: The Buy-cott in effect
"After perusing the store some more, I noticed that Sargento cheese and Angel Soft Toilet Paper also were on sale. Perhaps this is all a coincidence. I'd rather think it was Roundy's telling the union we don't give a damn about what you think."

Bet the unions felt a yellow streak down their backs and backed down on the boycott. I don't know, but it's my blog and I can say it. Thugs and goons!

Oh by the way, July 12th is election day up here. Holperin is out!

MANILA, Philippines – Catholics worldwide celebrated the beatification of the late Pope John Paul II on Sunday, with the faithful jamming churches to pray, cherishing his mementoes and witnessing on TV screens the Vatican ceremony that brought him one step closer to possible sainthood.
From Mexico to Australia, bells pealed in churches and cathedrals and people erupted in applause and tears to celebrate after Pope Benedict XVI bestowed one of the Catholic Church's greatest honors to Polish-born Karol Wojtyla, who visited 129 countries in his 27-year papacy to become the most-traveled pope ever."

Special Day

Today is a special day for Berry Laker 1st Grandson.

First Communion.

Two proud grandparents today.

Comrades and Unions, It's May Day

May Day occurs on May 1 and refers to several public holidays.[1] In many countries, May Day is synonymous with International Workers' Day, or Labour Day, a day of political demonstrations and celebrations organised by communists, anarchists, socialists, and activist groups

It is also Buycott Sunday. No vandalism by union thugs today.
