PEMBINE, Wis. - Making crafts with wood is a hobby for Alvin Perry. He's pretty handy with stone and cement, too." Pembine man builds monumental waterfall - IronMountainDailyNews.com | news, sports, business, jobs - The Daily News

The 82-year-old former logger always wanted to build something on his property, located at the end of a dead end street in Pembine, Wis.

Perry began the project in 2007 and completed it this year. He said he spent all his spare time the past two years completing the project.

"About three-quarter ton of mortar and cement I mixed by hand,
20 tons of flat stone hauled from Marinette, Wis.
and 60 yards of top soil."

Rocks were hauled in one-by-one, and cement was hauled to the site in five-gallon buckets.

The landscaped area is 150 yards from his home and 100 feet wide.

The water wheel is four feet in diameter, and the falls are more than 50 feet long and 30 feet high. An American flag at the top of the waterfall is 60 feet from ground level.
