"Oshkosh businessman may oppose Feingold
May 15, 2010
An Oshkosh businessman is expected to enter the U.S. Senate race next week, becoming the fourth Republican challenger to Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold.
A campaign spokesman says Ron Johnson will announce his candidacy Monday.
The announcement has been expected for weeks. Johnson had been rumored as a possible candidate ever since he gave a number of well-received speeches at tea party events.
Johnson is the president of Pacur. The private Oshkosh company makes plastic packaging materials and has over 100 employees.
The three GOP candidates already in the race are former Wisconsin Commerce Secretary Dick Leinenkugel, Madison developer Terrence Wall and Watertown businessman Dave Westlake.
The GOP primary is Sept. 14."
