Went to the special Pulaski School Board meeting last night. No I did not have a tape recorder and cannot do short hand. I have my notes and that is what I will write from. The following is to the three or four readers that follow me. Discussion centered on how much to raise the tax levy with the school budget. I will post details (my notes) of the meeting later but wanted to bring this to the attention of the residents / tax payers of the Pulaski Community School District.
First, I knew it would be an eventful meeting when I see a Toyota Prius with an Obama sticker on the bumper pull into the parking lot. Meeting started at 6:05 and moved to the library at 7:10. Discussion was about the possible cuts in the budget.
Now remember this from the Shawano Leader dated September 19, 2009.
O K, 77 residents demanded and soundly rejected! Low and behold out of no where comes the long arm of the liberal left and how it reached out to the people that voted against the levy hike last Wednesday. From one member of the Pulaski School board, the 77 people who voted against the levy were my God, "organized" . Holy cow, organized, was that right out of the Huffington Post? Was this WEAC talking? Was this from Jim Doyle or Mike Tate (from Charlie Sykes)? I thought for one second I was in a school board meeting in Madison and not Pulaski Wisconsin. ORGANIZED! Where did that come from? Right out of the liberal play book. WOWZY!
Sounds like the people that voted "no" were a part of the angry mob that the left accuses us of, ( I feel bad I didn't go last Wednesday). You know, those evil tea party people who organize against tax increases and Obamacare. How dare 77 people organize against the school board. Good Lord, I could just feel the animosity against those evil people who are just trying to keep their dirty filthy property tax money. How dare they! We sit here and educate their children and they dare organize against us! A good tax payer tried to help the board understand what those 77 people think and feel but was just dismissed
The meeting ended with a comment from a gentleman. I apologize for not getting his name but he did tell the board that he did not want to see things get out if hand. That's not the words he used but let's just stay positive. I guess I was not the only one to see the divide between some on the school board and taxpayers. There seems to be a disconnect between some, not all on the Pulaski Community School Board and the people who pay taxes to educate the children of the district. The board member also said the board is responsible for advocating good things for kids. Don't all taxpayers want the best for the children of the district?
The School Board and the Superintendent should be proud of the school system that they give the children of the Pulaski School District. With that being said, we must remind them of a few points.
From Mark Belling from 1130 WISN and part 1 from his 9/22 podcast talking about the West Bend School District. I will adapt his comments to pertain to the Pulaski Community School District. Thank You Mark for words that pertain to all school boards.
The Pulaski School Board does not own the school district, the people of the Pulaski School district own the Pulaski School District . It's not the school boards school system, it's the tax payers school system.
School board members are elected to oversee the school district so our children get the education they deserve with in the budgets they are empowered to oversee.
Organized taxpayers need to be vigilant when it comes to raising property taxes.
If you don't care, don't complain. Are you mad as hell and how long will you take it! The liberal left will do anything for the sake of money, YOUR MONEY!
Let's get organized!
Anyone who want's to complain here, complain to your school board members. I didn't say it and it's your taxes they want to raise. Think about it.

"Pulaski residents vote down school budget hike
By Joan Koehne, Wolf River Media
PULASKI — “Tighten your belt,” demanded the residents of the Pulaski School District, as voters soundly rejected the district’s proposed 12 percent increase in the tax levy at the annual meeting Sept. 16.
With a 77-30 vote, a motion to adopt the $14 million tax levy was rejected. The proposed tax rate was proposed at $9.36 per $1,000 equalized value, an increase from $8.34 last year."
