John Gard on Gasoline Prices

67% of Americans Want Immediate Relief at the Gas Pump

The number of Americans now supporting offshore drilling has soared to 67%, according to a poll released by Rasmussen. Yet, last week Steve Kagen voted -- for the 8th time since he has been in office -- to keep the government-imposed barriers that prevent us from tapping into the vast supply of American oil. In fact, last weekend he even campaigned with another Congressman, Representative Collin Peterson (D-MN) who, while speaking about gas prices said “we needed these higher prices to force us to change our ways.” John couldn’t disagree more with Reps. Kagen or Peterson. John issued the following comments in response to Rep. Peterson’s statement.

“To say that skyrocketing gas prices are ‘needed’ shows just how out of touch Congressman Kagen and his allies in Washington are on this issue. Because of high prices at the pump, family budgets are being squeezed and American jobs are being endangered. Too many Americans are paying the price for the lack of action from Congress on this issue.

We need new leadership in Congress that understands the real problems being faced by real people. Right now, there are too many Congressmen that defend the status quo and want to keep us reliant on foreign countries for our oil. That’s why I offered my plan to lower gas prices by removing government-imposed barriers to American oil production.

Congressman Peterson’s belief that high gas prices are ‘needed’ are reflected in his and Kagen’s voting record. Steve Kagen has now voted 8 times to prevent oil drilling on American assets. I’ll vote differently because I know that the people of Northeast Wisconsin have had enough and they want leaders who will work to find solutions, not stand in the way.”

People cannot keep paying high gasoline prices and still think Steve Kagen is doing his job! He is not taking care of the people of the 8th district in Washington. Kagen thinks 67% of Americans are complete idiots.

Besides gasoline, how much more are people paying for eggs, bread, meat, diapers, bath tissue? Kagen says he fighting for his voters. Does he really know what they pay for everyday items they purchase. He has no clue!

I should at least give Steve Kagen credit for not changing in the last year and half. He started Congress with out a clue and as we see again today has not changed, still clueless.

I can only feel sorry for his staff that is still with him. They must be going through hell, I feel for them.

It's time for Steve Kagen to go back to private practice.
