Seems Nancy Nusbaum wants to change how the minority party is heard.
"“I would advocate that we should have the tools that allow for discussion,” she said. “When one group has all the power concentrated in their hands, they do not have to allow discussion. They cut out the cities. They cut out the counties. They cut out the public dialogue.”
Nusbaum would prefer, in the future, that legislators develop a mechanism, whether it’s a filibuster or something else, that would allow the minority party some power to keep legislation from passing without bipartisan effort.
“I hope it never, ever happens again, and it’s one of the things I will be working to influence,” Nusbaum said."
Where was Nancy when Doyle and the other democrats controlled Madison?
Nancy wants change only until the dems are in control again.

Seniors at Wausau AARP event express dismay over U.S. debt debate
Seems some people in Wausau wanted to know whats going on with the current debt limit talks.
About 33 people attended an information session hosted by AARP at the Plaza Hotel in Wausau. Attendees also used electronic remotes to weigh in anonymously on several questions during the presentation, including one about how Congress should address the federal deficit.
About 73 percent favored a combination of tax increases and spending cuts to address the federal deficit.
The only way to fix the problem is to raise taxes? Who do seniors think should get tax increases? Who is telling seniors this information? Are they really trying to be honest and up front with people? Let's see, meet Lisa Larkin.
Dissatisfaction with members of Congress was evident at the event. Attendees murmured or grumbled aloud when AARP presenter Lisa Lamkin discussed various proposals that have been introduced and faded away in recent weeks.
Lamkin said she updates her presentation daily, knowing that each proposal might change or be tossed entirely.

When a lobbyist starts telling people who to vote for, what government should do for you and who is right and who is wrong, we are in trouble.

I Admit, We Lost Our Country

I see this headline and decide to read on on who is calling Washington.
Wisconsin residents eager to make calls to congressmen over debt ceiling debate
Sen. Ron Johnson's office said it took at least triple its average number of calls Tuesday and that almost all were about the debt ceiling debate. Half the callers supported Obama's position on settling the controversy, while a quarter supported Johnson and Republicans, and a quarter supported compromise, Johnson said.
My God, we finally lost our country. So Obama calls on voters to call Washington and these are the results .
Half support Obama? People, people, people, Obama doesn't have a plan! So people supporting Obama will follow him off a cliff? So half the people will drink the grape Kool aid? This country has gone mad! What plan has Obama put on the table? The guy just wants to get re elected.
A quarter support compromise? So cutting $1.2 tril over 10 years is a good compromise? We are spending billions every day and they want to cut a couple millions every year? And who says the next five congresses will keep the spending caps on the books? This is insane! We lost it, this country finally went off the deep end!
And another thing, I hear from the morning and late afternoon guys on conservative radio 1130 WISN and they are saying, take the Boehner deal. it's the best we can get! Are you kidding! This is a replay of 2008.
Remember when Henry Paulson said we had to bail out the banks! He said the world will end, our country cannot afford to let the financial markets crash! So they spent Trillions of dollars and where did the money go? How soon we forget. Did someone save the Kool Aid from 2008?
The house should pass a bill to freeze spending and we will not have to raise the debt limit. It's a spending problem stupid! If the dem lead senate does not pass it then let everything drop! It will be on the hands of democrats and President Obama.
Too many people are listening to the liberal media and republicans in Washington are drinking the Kool aid again.
The end of this country is surly coming to it's final resting place.

NASCAR has a history of finding the most talented singers to deliver the National Anthem {insert sarcasm}, tonight during the Nationwide Series Federated Auto Parts 300 race in Nashville Tennessee wasn’t any different. Our dog leapt to its feet, made a beeline for the closed sliding glass door….and committed doggy suicide while the anthem was being *sung* (sic) by another one of NASCAR’s extremely gifted singers. While it was apparent at the time that this might be the most exciting part of this race, we were sadly mistaken.
Enter Pastor Joe Nelms of the Family Baptist Church in Lebanon, Tennessee. It’s obvious that Pastor Joe has the spirit in him but his delivery is, well….a tad unorthodox? But who cares, who says God doesn’t have a sense of humor?….take a look.

FAA Shutdown, The Sky Is Falling

The above headline sounds like all flights will be grounded.
Chicken little, the sky is falling, the planes are falling.
The dirty little secret is that big gov won't collect ticket taxes. Let me repeat that, T A X E S!!!!!
So flights will still be flying and maybe TSA won't be grouping the passengers.

Wis. 30th Senate District Race, What Happened?????
Congrat's to Dave Hansen.
July 19 recall, special election results - JSOnline:
My first question is how can Dave Hansen have an "i" by his name if he is a democrat? I'm just asking. The information is from JSOnline!
"Name .Party ....Votes ........Vote %
Hansen , Dave (i) Dem 20,653 66%
VanderLeest , David GOP 10,604 34%"
Seems one of two things happened here.
1) republicans didn't show up to vote. I find that hard to believe.
2) republicans voted for Dave Hansen! I'll take that as a maybe. VanderLeest did a lot of work for the recall but had a lot of baggage.
In the 12th senate recall they gathered over 20,000 signatures. In Hansen's district they collected close to or the same amount.
What the heck happened? Where did an extra 10,000 votes come from for Hansen?
I wasn't warm to Vander Leest but at least he wasn't a RINO, a liberal tax increasing guy like Hansen or a carpetbagger like ....! No I won't say who that is! With all the crooked dems in office who cares about the past ?
Something doesn't pass the smell test here. If you watched the results from JSOnline, 65% of the vote in Hansen's district came in by 9:18 pm while the other two races at the same time only had 30% in the 12th and 19% reporting in southeastern Wisconsin. If JSOnline is in Milwaukee, why did they get the Green Bay vote first before Kenosha? Hummmmm.
O K, no sour grapes here in the 30th district. I don't live there anymore. I just want to say how the republicans didn't vote, the conservatives stayed home and the candidate that should be running against Dave Hansen today is none other then "T" Nygren.
Since John "T" Nygren was such good friends with Terry "T" McCormick, he sure ran a GREAT campaign like hers from 2008. The reason I say that is back in 2008 "T" McCormick and John "T" Nygren were at a "T"ea party event in Marinette. The other candidates running at the time were not able to be involved in the forum. They were there but were not asked to participate. Ask Mark Savar!. Since John "T" Nygren is such good friends with "T" McCormick, he can sit with "T" in the line of

Republicans just never learn!
Side note, I hope my representative Jeff Mursau doesn't hang out with John "T" Nygren. He could be out the door in the next election too! Jeff, don't cross the conservative right.
But then again, YAHOOOOOOOOOO to Kim Simac for a win tonight and on to send Jim Holperin home in August!

Went to my voting place in the 12th around 10:30am.
This past February Supreme Court Primary I was the first one to vote at 9:00 am. Today with only two candidates on the ballot I was # 29. Who did I vote for?
Of course Kim Simac.

I Thought Walker Cut Bus Transportation Budgets

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) -- Riding the bus on Saturday will be free, starting July 16. It's being called 'Green Saturdays.'
It is one of four new changes the Green Bay Metro is making to increase ridership on its buses.
Other changes include lowering the price for students from $1.50 to $1, and increasing routes on the west side of the city.
If you already ride the bus on the west side, Wittig says your travel time could be cut by 30 minutes. He points to the St. Norbert to Bay Park Square mall route as an example. He says the trip used to take an hour, now it takes less than 15 minutes.
They are also rolling out 10 brand new, 'greener' buses starting tomorrow. They say the buses are more energy efficient and release less emissions.
Metro Director Tom Wittig said they hope the changes will help to shift the public's perspective of riding the bus.
'Using transit is easy and fun, and that's the message we want to get through,' said Wittig.

Can somebody straighten me out here? Did or didn't Scott Walker cut spending for local transit? I heard stories this past spring that Walkers budget would stop, lay off drivers and cut bus service to major cities in Wisconsin.
If city transit budgets were cut, how can they give free service on Saturdays? I smell a rat here!
O K, Maybe this is a great promotion for the Green Bay Transit buses but tell us it's a promotion. Don't tell us your out of money and will lay drivers off and then give free rides!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It describes the governors as anti-union, anti-worker, anti-woman, anti-elderly and anti-poor and encourages people to demand a recall. The image is part of a larger 22-piece exhibition at the center called 'What's in a Name?' which features the artwork of local artists Joe Sobel and Stimac."

When voters on Tuesday kick off a winding, five-week stretch of recall elections that could reshape the Republican-led state Senate and further upend Wisconsin politics, a litany of new voting rules awaits them.
Though a widely publicized law that requires voters to provide photo identification at the ballot box doesn't begin until next year, recall voters will have to sign their names on poll lists before they are given ballots in Tuesday's Democratic primaries, which include elections in Northeastern Wisconsin's 2nd and 14th Senate districts.
"If the voter refuses to sign the poll list, the voter will not be able to vote," said Nathaniel Robinson, elections division administrator with the state Government Accountability Board.

Better Late Than Never Jim Holperin

Sen. Jim Holperin, D-Conover, has six American Indian reservations in his district, and he spent most of Thursday with the Menominee Tribe to look at some of the changes in the last year, as well as learn about the area’s issues.
So which of the six tribes is more important to Holperin? Is Menominee rated 5th or 6th?
Holperin started his visit with a tour of the lumber mill in Neopit operated by Menominee Tribal Enterprises, followed by a trip to the Menominee Casino and Resort to see the latest addition to its conference center. He spent almost an hour touring the College of the Menominee Nation and speaking with some of the students. Following that, he paid a visit to the Menominee Cultural Museum, where he learned about the tribe’s efforts to return the sturgeon to Keshena Falls through natural means after an almost 120-year absence.
Although the trip was mainly for Holperin’s information and research, the senator found a lot of support from tribal members. Holperin is one of nine senators who has been targeted for recall, and he is due to defend his seat Aug. 16.

The latest visit was coordinated through the new Menominee Democratic Party, which was recognized by state Democrats in June. According to chairwoman Diane Miller, the Democrats felt it was important for the senator to see first-hand how some of his constituents live, thrive and survive.

So Holperin represented the 12th District since 2008 and before that, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism from 2003 to 2007 and he's never been to Menominee County before yesterday? If this was a republican, would the Shawano Leader be so kind to them?
“It gives him an opportunity, not only to view the land he is representing and the people he is representing, but he also gets an opportunity to meet and talk with the people who work in the various places he is representing,” Miller said. “He is up for re-election, and people have an opportunity to ask him questions.”
It was not only tribal representatives who sought an audience with Holperin. Ron Corn, Menominee County’s administrative coordinator, sat down with Holperin briefly at the casino and told him about the county’s concerns over recent budget cuts that will see almost $300,000 in state-shared revenue go away next year, mostly in social services.
“This is at a time when we see costs rising,” Corn said.
So Corn and Holperin had a chat at the Casino? With all the money the casino is making, can't the casino help social services that is supposedly being cut? Speaking of a Casino, can we say political donations from the Casino? No, no we will not go there yet. This was only an informational gathering visit, remember. Bet on July 7th, 8th or 9th will we see a campaign donation from the casino?
Holperin said the state would likely not know the full magnitude of the budget cuts for another year, possibly two.
So how can Corn say they will lose $300,000 when Holperin doesn't even know what they will lose? Da, let's wait two years to see if they really lose money. A state senator doesn't have a grip on the budget?
Holperin tries to visit his district communities as much as possible, but this is his first visit to the Menominee reservation for 2011, mainly due to the Legislature’s time being monopolized by the state budget deficit, which was recently closed with a biennial budget signed into law last month. The last time he visited the reservation in an official capacity, the Menominee Casino and Resort did not have its conference center up and running yet.
“I always like to come back at least once a year and get an update on things that are new. We certainly saw a lot of that today,” Holperin said. “The tribe is certainly very progressive.”
Sure, right Jim, first visit in 2011. It's already July 7th and this is his first visit to the area? Oh brother.
Toward the end of the day, Holperin’s journey landed him in the middle of a sensitive issue for the tribe — the restoration of the sturgeon population. Rebecca Allegria, a member of the tribal Legislature and the Menominee historic preservation specialist, told Holperin that the sturgeon almost disappeared from the tribe’s culture until the 1990s, but the push to restore the fish’s significance for the Menominee has resulted in the ancient tales being prevalent for almost all tribal members today.
“It’s got cultural significance, not only to us but to all tribes in Wisconsin,” Allegria said.
The tribe is working with the state Department of Natural Resources to find some way for the fish to naturally return to Keshena Falls and bypass the dams in Shawano and Keshena. Holperin seemed in favor of the idea.
“Your option makes sense to me,” Holperin said.
So Jim never heard of this project before yesterday? Has Holperin been on the farm too long or out of state too long?

Who is this guy? When Doyle raided the doctors fund and the transportation funds in the last budget did Jim Holprerin say,
“Your option makes sense to me,”
Awww shucks! Sure go ahead and take that money.
Since Holperin ran to Illinois and obviously doesn't have a handle on his district, it's time to elect Kim Simac for the 12th Senate District.
Holperin pays visit to Menominee

Sen. Jim Holperin, D-Conover, has six American Indian reservations in his district, and he spent most of Thursday with the Menominee Tribe to look at some of the changes in the last year, as well as learn about the area’s issues.
So which of the six tribes is more important to Holperin? Is Menominee rated 5th or 6th?
Holperin started his visit with a tour of the lumber mill in Neopit operated by Menominee Tribal Enterprises, followed by a trip to the Menominee Casino and Resort to see the latest addition to its conference center. He spent almost an hour touring the College of the Menominee Nation and speaking with some of the students. Following that, he paid a visit to the Menominee Cultural Museum, where he learned about the tribe’s efforts to return the sturgeon to Keshena Falls through natural means after an almost 120-year absence.
Although the trip was mainly for Holperin’s information and research, the senator found a lot of support from tribal members. Holperin is one of nine senators who has been targeted for recall, and he is due to defend his seat Aug. 16.

It didn’t take long for Wisconsin taxpayers to realize gains under Gov. Scott Walker’s newly enacted package of union and other reforms.
What once were budget-busting headaches have been replaced by cost-cutting pain relief, thanks to changes in government-sector union negotiations that became effective in June and concessions that he extracted during the run-up to his reforms becoming law.
Even Walker’s opponents are forced to concede the savings, albeit by condemning them as crimes against unions."

Democratic leaders have chosen a state lawmaker from Queens to replace former Rep. Anthony Weiner, who resigned his seat in New York's 9th Congressional District last month after a sexting scandal.
Assemblyman David Weprin, 55, was expected to be formally nominated Friday by leaders of the Queens and Brooklyn Democratic parties, an adviser to Weprin said Thursday. The adviser spoke on condition of anonymity because the nomination had not been announced.

Steve Kagen, The Checks In The Mail, Oops ,Maybe Not
Seems Peshtigo got burned by a promise from Steve Kagen when he was a Congressman from the Wisconsin 8th.
I remember Kagen would always tell everyone the checks in the mail! Seems Peshtigo is left holding the 1/2 Million dollar bag From the Peshtigo Times.

Possible loss of the promised $500,000 in federal funding for some costly City of Peshtigo water utility projects loomed over the regular monthly City Council meeting Tuesday evening, July 6, but failed to overshadow some other highly controversial issues on the agenda. Mayor Allen Krizenesky reported that he and other city officials were meeting with project engineers on Wednesday to draft a response and request reinstatement of the special projects grant. The funds were originally appropriated to Peshtigo for water-related infrastructure improvements on Feb. 21, 2008."
After the grant was approved in 2008, the city was presented with a large publicity type check for the $500,000 by the former United States Senator Steve Kagen, but the real check never arrived. Problems developed because work had already started on the radionuclide compliance project that was funded. Projects already underway could not be funded in accord with terms of the grant legislation.
City fathers then were assured that the grant money was locked in for Peshtigo and future projects would be funded with it. Planning got underway for the wastewater treatment plant improvements that are now ready to go.
Then came the current federal budget difficulties. Two weeks ago the city was notified that Congress had put a hold on all grant funds and the city will need to take additional steps to get the money reinstated.
Ouch!

“Town government took it on the chin in many respects with the recent state budget,” Holperin said. “Town road aid is frozen for at least the next two years, while other transportation spending soars…especially on expensive freeway projects in southeastern Wisconsin.”"
So Jim Holperin and Jim Doyle bankrupted the towns and now he wants to help them? Will any town supervisor ask Holperin why he raided the transportation fund like his own little piggy bank which is why road aid is now frozen? Come on Jim, tell the whole story!
Holperin said almost every northern Wisconsin Town will also lose state shared revenue during the next two years while Town Board ability to levy for special projects or improvements is severely restricted.
So Holperin is mad towns can't raise taxes! He sure talks loose with tax payers money.Towns wouldn't be in this mess if Hoilperin just did his job the last four years under Diamond Jim Doyle!

Holperin put the towns in the mess they're in and now he comes to save the day?
Holperin noted that Simac’s letter to Town Board members also failed to include information on who paid for the mailing, which is a clear violation of state election law. The matter is now under investigation by the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.
No, the sky is falling! Who paid for the mailing? Will Holperin tell us who paid for his stay in Illinois back in February? Will Holperin tell us who is funding his campaign?
