Fitzgerald, Ellis say Republicans dropping fines, other measures for Dems:

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (left) and President Mike Ellis said this afternoon they are dropping the $100 fines levied against Dems for leaving the state and are working to allow their votes to count again in committee.
Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, sent his caucus an e-mail yesterday that Dems remain in contempt of the Senate for ignoring quorum calls during their absence. Fitzgerald said Dems can signal their support or opposition in committee, but those votes would not be officially recorded."
I am disappointed in Fitz and Ellis on this move. What the heck was the November election all about? Buck up and don't back down!
Why buckle? Fine them, they left the state, follow the rules, they left the state. Why knuckle under to people who will screw you any chance they will get in the future.Jim Holperin is my state senator, why are you giving him a pass on him leaving the state and disfranchise my vote.
Fitz, this will come back to bite you and it won't be pretty!
Would the dems let you back in? Never! They would play with you for years and you and Ellis know it! This smells of a RINO move and I am not happy!

Leone Schneidewend, chairperson for the Democratic Party of Shawano County, was on the northwest corner of Division Street and Main Street on Tuesday afternoon collecting signatures to have state Sen. Robert Cowles, R-Green Bay, removed from office.
“There are eight Republican senators around Wisconsin that we want removed,” Schneidewend said. “Walker’s next.”
Shawano County Democratic Party leaders and others throughout the Senate district have been gathering signatures since Thursday to have Cowles recalled.
They will need at least 16,000 signatures by the end of April to force a recall election.
A handmade sign noting “Stop the Attack on Workers Rights, Sign a Recall Petition” was next to Schneidewend’s stand to get commuter’s attention.
After about an hour Schneidewend had 10 signatures.
I collect also but for the other side. I wonder if he has right wing, tea party, loose cannon type conservatives yelling, screaming and harassing him?

March 13th and complaints being filed.
Destruction of offical government documents, intimidation, threats, and lack of police action will be addressed
Merrill, Wisconsin - Leader Kim Simac and volunteers for the Recall Jim Holperin Committee will hold a press conference tomorrow at 12:00 pm at the Lincoln County Courthouse
This is the location of the conflict between Recall Petition Signers and Union Protesters last Thursday, March 10, 2011.
The petition rally was originally scheduled at a local Merrill restaurant but was reloacated after the proprietors recieved many concerning phone calls and felt they needed to back out. The committee then set up in front of the Lincoln County Courthouse to offer citizens an opportunity to sign their names to the petition. Over 1,000 calls had been sent out the previous day notifying area residents of the petition rally.
Upon arrival, members of the recall committee were encircled by union protesters carrying signs and a leader with a mega phone who began chanting and ranting loudly. They packed in tightly around the petition collection table so as to prevent those attempting to sign from doing so. At one point, a pro union protestor, pretending to be interested in signing the petition, wrote profanity across a partially collected petiton form, than began ripping up the completed petitions that were in close proximity. The policemen that were there, and who were standing in close proximity to these events as they unfolded, did nothing to assist those collecting the petitions as they were being destroyed, despite such an action being a Felony under Wisconsin law. Police also did nothing to clear the walk way for citizens that wanted to sign the petitions. Recall Committee members received many phone calls the following day from Merill area citizens who stated that they showed up to sign the petition, but were too affraid to get out of their vehicles and approach the recall table.
Kim Simac, leader of the recall effort, who has also received numerous personal threats, has now declared that enough is enough. “Tomorrow we beging taking the necessary steps to put a stop to this kind of behavior.” Simac stated. She went on to say: “The people of the 12th District of Wisconsin can not and will not allow this thuggery and bullying to continue. As honorable citizens, I believe we all have an obligation to stand up for the rule of law, which is why I am taking this action."
Information will be released to how the events of Thursday March 10, 2011 are going to be handled and how such threats, intimidation and disorderly behavior is going to be addressed in the future.

“We’re losing battles, but if you quit after the first battle, you lose the war,” Dickinson said. “We’re here for the long haul and I think you are going to see people here for a long time.”

“The future of our state is in the balance,” Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller, a Monona Democrat, told the Capitol Square crowd. “I don’t think anybody knew what they were getting in this last election and they’ve asked for a do-over.”
So Miller doesn't like the results and wants a do over. Geez, I didn't see this when Obama was elected.
First question, where were they last November? Second, this just tells us voter fraud is coming big time and we better be ready to stop it. The media will ignore fraud by union workers and teachers. The media will ignore indoctrination by teachers to their students against republicans. The media will target recalls towards republicans and put democrat recalls on the back page.
Society will be dragged through the gutter and it will not be pretty. The cry baby union thugs will fight till the end. Is there a brewery in Wisconsin who will manufacture Picket's Beer? 12 pack cans?
Someone can make some big money in the near future. I bet Sendiks in Milwaukee and a lot of grocery stores that would buy a couple trucks to sell.
Sell them for $5.00 a 12 pk and sell a ton.

Was this a typo? This is a travesty’. Should there have been a question mark? Travesty to who? What about the travesty to the tax payers?
Shock, disbelief and anger over a sudden end to their collective bargaining rights drew more than 100 Shawano area teachers and other public workers to an impromptu rally Thursday afternoon on Main Street, where shouts of recall sometimes drowned out the horns of passing motorists supporting their cause.
“We are rallying for democracy and we want people to be united,” said Kim Bakeberg, president of the Shawano Education Association. “We’re here to save the American dream.”
So all others besides union workers, their american dream is not in play here. The people who pay these people are not important here. Seems Kim is trying to protect here behind here to keep her power! Here's another comment.
The rally was joined by some teachers who had retired several years ago, including former physical education teacher Matty Matheson.
“This is absolutely tragic,” she said. “This is a travesty.”
Matheson said the vote in Madison threatens the progress school districts have made in education.
“Once again our children’s children are going to be really hurting from what’s happening today,” she said. “I really wish Walker would think about what he’s doing morally instead of going through the money angle.”
This person is teaching your children. Her children's children will be bankrupted trying to pay her dear pension and health care. They aren't even born yet and she's tossing them under the school bus. And this.
Bonduel teacher Dan Weidner, former chair of Shawano County’s Democratic Party, said Republicans had “repealed 60 years of labor progress.”
First, seems Tim must of read my blog. He writes that good ole Dan was a former chair of the Shawano Democratic Party. I questioned him being a big shot in the SDP in his papers puff piece article for Dan last week.
Hey Dan, if your a teacher, can you please brush up on your history lessons or go back and take a basic math class.
Collective bargaining was signed into law by Gaylord Nelson in 1959. That's 52 years ago. Why didn't Dan just say it's been a 100, 200 years of collective bargaining.
Not sure what the headline was on the dead tree version of the Leader and not sure Tim Ryan purposely wrote the headline. Not sure if Tim's wife is a teacher. Not sure if Tim is in th unions hip pocket or was Tim threatened with a loss of union income for his paper?

Madison- On Thursday, Representative Michelle Litjens (R-Vinland) released the
following statement on the passage of the Budget Repair Bill:
“This is not about collective bargaining. This bill has been about saving the jobs
and avoiding layoffs of our hardworking State and Local public employees.
“The fact is that we have a budgetary crisis in Wisconsin. If our elected officials,
both Republican and Democrat, had acted responsibly over the last 17 years, we would
not be here right now. I promised my constituents that I will balance the budget honestly
and that is exactly what we are laying the groundwork to do.
“It is unfortunate that our public employees were given bad information about this
bill. Wages were not cut. No one will be laid off. No one will go to work tomorrow
without protections from inmates. And no one will be forced to work overtime without
being justly compensated. The sky has not fallen and we are not putting public employees
in harms way.”

He says there was no reason for them to stay away any longer since Senate Republicans passed the bill without them on Wednesday night.
He says he didn't think any of the other senators would return to the Capitol since the Senate wasn't scheduled to be in session again until April 5."

So the governor finally used the 'nuclear option' and after Assembly action later this morning, Walker will sign the bill and public-employee collective bargaining will be no more, for the most part.
So what happens now? For a while, the unions and the students will continue their days of rage. Students love to have an excuse to get out on the street, and unions love to have pawns they can put out on the streets. Unfortunately for the unions, Spring Break at UW-Madison starts in two days, so the students will probably head to the beach."
